Warning! The ghost has occasionally given me a potion when 'impressed' instead of loot, always unidentified ones so far, and some have been negative grrr. Slowing, poisoning and -1 to melee & ranged potions in recent days. It should be only good stuff!

Multi kills, and different types of kills work well. He's easily amused by the Powitzer for instance, just charge up and rail gun a line of dudes. Also the shadow and ruby wands work great for multi kills.

But if you get a variety that seems to work well too. So try a melee, then a ranged, then a magic kill. But mostly just let him do his thing.

Yeah, unfortunately the ghost can award you with negative potions, which should probably be changed, would be a nice way to identify, especially with 5 relics active where you basically don't ♥♥♥♥ around with potions whatsoever.
