Caveblazers

How do I get better at this game?
I mean I am really bad. In the current version I could only make it to forsaken jungle once only to die at its 2nd floor. Any tips on what perk to choose? I usually do traditionalist perk or cleric perk (even though I used the archer perk during the run I reached forsaken jungle).

i dunno man, but that's about as far as I can get too. I usually use Traditionalist or the Double Jump perk.

The game's hard :P You just have to be really tight with the controls and avoid unnecessary risks.

How do you get better? Well, by playing and learning its rules. The best starter perks I'd recommend are Archer and Twofold (once unlocked that is). The Cleric is just bad and the Traditionalist eliminates Magic Item use which is not what you want unlock you've mastered combat.

Tips
1. Learn enemy patterns.
2. Drink unknown potions when you're close to a Blessing, if it's Flame or Poison jump to take the Blessing, you'll become immune the damage.
3. Drink unknown potions only when you have more than half health.
4. Don't engage in combat if there are more than 3 enemies unless you're equipped to do so.
5. Do not rush or panic if sh!t goes bad. Panicking and rushing often leads you into the paths of more enemies which will result in your death if careless.
6. Always take Charge Blessing if offered and use your Magic item frequently. Same goes for Life Drain, Endurance, Tenacious, Piercing, Twofold and Immunity Blessings.
7. Optionally take Looting and Riches Blessings to supplement the item and money drops.
8. Eliminate unnecessaru source of damage i.e. forget bows like bomb and pomegranate as they're not effective enough and can oftern result in you health loss.
9. Use melee weapons that swing fast o
10. Learn to enbrace melee combat.

Note: #2 also works if you drink a poison right before entering the door to keave the level. At most you'll take 1 tick of damage as the level transition is 4 secs while the Poison and Flame damage tick rate is 4 seconds (flame), 5 seconds (poison).

Can't give you a precise blessing line up as I normally play Vampire which is the hardest perk to use and hope for the run of runs.

Vampire - Run of runs line-up
Weapons: Super Meat Stick, Super Crimson Sword,
Bows: Super Crossfire, Super Bazwood Bow
Item: Super Titan Star (God-like regen on boss fights)
Rings: Emerald Ring x4
Blessings: Charge, Life Drain, Juggernaut, Regeneration, Spike, Knight, Rings x2, Tenacious and Immunity

What is a blessing?

Blessings are the white shiny pickups you find in a level.

Oh lol I keep forgetting that.

I think the most important, non-trivial tip is to realise there is a health shrine on every other level (excluding boss levels). So you should pretty much always save your health items unless you're going to die. Then you only need to take less than 100 damage + the health items you get every cycle and you can make it to the finish.

Actually depending on health shrines may not be the best failsafe as they may be trapped behind inaccessible level chunks or not generate at all. So the best advice I'd give anyone is learn the enemy patterns. It may take some time and many deaths but once you learn them you'll get further each run.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have done a few runs with two fold perk and managed to end up twice with the forsaken forest boss (only to have the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obelisk boss kick my ass twice). I can say now that I got 60% chance of getting into forsaken forest or I am just gonna get myself to swallow my pride after saying that.

This might be one of the hardest rogue-lites I have ever tried. After 10 hours, I have yet to beat a single boss..

Debatable, cave blazers is hard but it forces its difficulty unlike other rogue-likes where you can play a very hard character which are optional.

Truthfully, it's not that hard but it demands your utmost attention, one slip up and you'll be dead. So the game asks that you always be alert, easy right.

Not true, you can end up getting a cluster of monsters suddenly even if you were to pay your utmost attention and putting all your attention doesn't mean you will really play much better.

The controls are so clunky that unless you're either six years old or a midget, you're never going to be good on a standard keyboard. Maybe with a controller someone could play this game, but when you got giant hands like mine, and those hands are worn out from fighting and doing hard labor, you aren't going to be able to shoot with a bow and hit anything with it using the arrow keys.

I have played with keyboard most of my life so I dont understand the feeling of having a controllee but it is indeed hard to shoot diagonally at times.
