While most games automatically switch between gamepad mode and mouse-and-keyboard mode, this game does not.

That's a little odd, last I tested, it should work, Valve also approved "Full controller support" in their testing. I will take a look at it.

From what I heard in past games, on certain configurations, game needs to be launched with controller already plugged in as seamless switching in-game might not work properly.
When gamepad is plugged-in, there should be virtual cursor on the screen (large white dot).
