I just tested on NG+ on Heroic difficulty and one sells weapons from level 9 to 13 and the other sells armor from level 9 to 13.

Both also sell tomes (as well as the seller of the third dungeon).

If you choose to kill both, you will get a map that will give you a Greater Tome of Knowledge, some resources and one or two items.

If you have enough money to buy all the tomes (4200 gold), it may be more advantageous than taking the map, but it is the player's choice.

It is important to remember that the same amount of money may be needed in the third dungeon to purchase tomes.
