Marshal Paladin's Grave

Was going through the Path of Fangs and found a gravestone that says "Where the Shade Ferns grow..." And there was a journal nearby saying how the marshal paladin in the grave had his infant son saved by medicine from the ferns. The tenth entry of the journal stated that there was a ring buried 3 hand lengths north and 2 west from where these ferns grow, but couldn't find any in the dungeon, and have no idea in the world map where these ferns are! Anyone know?
