Talk to the miner guy at his tent after you clear the dig. Talk about ore three times and he'll teach you how to make the ingots.

If you talk to him and say "Let's chat" and you do not get an option to ask about ore, go back to The Dig and rerun it until you find some lootable rocks. They will drop deep iron ore and a few Mana Encrusted Deep Iron Ingots. With these in hand, return to the mole and sell your ore to him 3 times. I'm not 100% sure how many ore he takes from you each time.
