For longer fights. I found it best to use her assassinate skill where she does damage and enters stealth. With stealth active her next attack can be an increased riposte. Also her execute skill is rediculous paired with crit and the talent that applies a poison dot on crits. You generally get a 3 stack of poison easily using execute.
2.) Wildshot and Execute are her best moves. Get the Wildshot II and Execute II perks as soon as possible. Basilisk Shot is also great, but I don't think you don't have it yet at level 16.
3.) Assassinate into Ambush is also a powerful combo if you can maintain the stealth effect long enough.
Multi hit abilities are also great if you want to use equipment that has a chance of activating on hit, especially stuns.
Her level 1 burst does a huge amount of damage as well. Assassinate is a very mediocre burst skill, but the fact she's not reliant on burst means you can keep it for quick cleanses from Calibretto, mana restoration from Knolan or out and out monster DPS/healing from Garrison's second burst, which is an asset - it makes no sense to have multiple party members all competing for burst meter.
For the most part I'd advise totally ignoring stealth and like all other characters just gear for stamina and attack power. Pick up evasion/crit as required through abilities and perks. Get her upgraded taunt/cleanse as situationally appropriate. One handy thing is that her taunt doesn't use up chances when she evades, which does make her arguably the best tank (although a tank isn't really helpful most of the time).
Focus on damages/critical will most probably lead you into boredom combats with repetitive rush killing.
The taunt can be paired with Evasive Maneuver, a perk can provide overcharge when she succeed an evade, so when tanking she can focus on that instead of attacks. Otherwise if you want try tanking with her, it's clear you need focus on evade. The problem is she is designed to be a more random character, and for a tank role that doesn't match well.
I haven't noticed yet skills or attacks that can decrease enemy chance to hit, otherwise it would be useful for her tanking.
I'm playing Gully, Monika, Alumon, Gully is the damage dealer with support options and some rare tanking like to protect Monika, Monika is tank and second damage dealer, Alumon is support and debuff. Just finished Deadwatch, overall it's fun, but for now it's rare Monika feel like a good tank. But against boss of Deadwatch it worked amazingly well, with her dodging almost all boss attacks. But Monika is a character designed around random, and it was certainly more series of luck.
1. Focus on Haste on Callibro, Start with Mist ( II preferably for Overcharge )
2. Taunt on Gully ( II doesn't do much so focus on Guard Up )
3. Wild Shot with Monika just to build some Overcharge ( Focus on Crit built Poison wouldn't needed consedering the crit )
4. Just need to build some Overcharge Gut Punch should be enough
5. Guard Up or Taunt if it already Expire
6. Execute ( for one ) or Demolition!? ( The one with AOE that cause 2 debuff if more than 1 tough enemy )
7. Wrath of Nature from Callibro to make sure the Crit.
8. Enjoy the Massacre.
She have the highest DPS to single target with Execute and Ambush, and se can uncover stealthed enemies at first turn with Wild Shot.
Maybe with Alumum instead Monika the party is even stronger, he have high DPS too and can also heal and shield (and Garrison have better AOE), but Gully and Kholan can do the job fine, and I think they are essential in dungeon (gully for hidden treasures, Kholan to recover Mana)
In my gameplay I use almost always Kholan and Gully, but swich often Monika, Alumon and Garrison. Rarely I use Bretto, maybe he could replace Kholan, but the old mage mana recovering abilities are very useful.
I started with bretto, Gully, and Garrison, then swapped Garrison for Monika as soon as I rescued her. I kept that trio until lvl 23, at which point I dropped Gully and swapped in Garrison to level him up.
Gully is very useful in the early and mid game, but she's a wasted slot once you start doing enough damage. If you do as the people above suggest and gear her for attack and stamina, Monika will be tough enough to take some hits and let Bretto heal her, while dishing out a ton of damage.
Wild shot with the lvl 20 pistols that add +1000 AP and +10% crit is amazing. You can easily one-shot trash with those. I got her another set of nice pistols about lvl 24, then just made her the legendaries at lvl 27.
Basilisk shot is the stun ability and it's very useful for interrupting those big damage, long cast time abilities some monsters like to use! :-)
