How to display 3D side by side without selecting display device? (for VR)
So I just brought a few 3d movies to watch in VR but for some strange reason PowerDVD forces you to select a display device and and since I only have the Vive headset it reverts to the deafult anaglyth. I simply want to have side by side 3d without selecting a device. Kind of feels like I have wasted alot of money on a Bluray player and 3d movies if such a simple thing is not possible.

Hi Maty743,

Currently, PowerDVD 16 doesn’t support the playback onto VR display device nor with the virtual desktop app provided by VR device.
We take care of user's advice, and have reported the support suggestion to product team as feature developement reference.

Thanks for your report and suggestion.

Thank you for the response and please do get the team to look into it as alot of people will be wanting it. It seems crazy that in 2016 people who purchase 3D movies legitimately can't even watch them but people that pirate them have no issues at all. If you did add VR support would that most likely be applied to preveous versions of PowerDVD as well? Thanks again

I found this searching for a solution. I see there isn't any so far.

But I want to take the chance to tell you that no explicit support is needed for VR. The only thing we need is the option to show the movie in side-by-side/over-under, full screen, with the image stretched to cover the whole screen. Like anaglyph with respect to regular monitors and TVs, it would work on any VR headset. This is because the software used to see the Windows desktop in VR, like for example BigScreen, shows the video in proper 3D inside the headset when you tell it that there is a side-by-side or over-under video on the screen.

It would be great to use PowerDVD with BigScreen to watch 3D Blu-rays in VR. And, you see, it doesn't need any fancy programming. It's the same kind of solution that the already included anaglyph option.
