Book of Demons
Can u fix the gargoyle a bit?
After playin this game for several hours, I found that gargoyle is the most annoying monsters of all. Not that they are hard to defeat, but there AI and skills are annoying.

1. When they sit still, u can't hurt them at all. I'm OK with that. But sometimes if u want to trigger their fighting stance, u need to take some trun-back routes. If u directly walk into them they sit still. u need to go down the road a bit, then trun back and they stand fight u. Maybe the designer wants to create some ambush battles, but really, most of the time this is annoying.

2. Their fly-away is rediculous. I take that they can fast jump and find a safe place to heal themselves, but they can fly across WALLS! Even across rooms. Isn't there a roof? The mage type enemies can teleport but their teleportation have casting time. Gargoyles' fly away has no casting time, and they sometimes fly far away, I mean really far. And u have to walk back a long way just to track them. Can u guys make them hit the wall? or add a casting time? at least one of them. Currently the only way to stop em is to make them dazzy, thank god they can be dazed. They immune fire, ice and poison, and cannot be freezed.

3. They are invincible when they are not on the ground. And this is not only for gargoyle I know. Other monsters such as spiders are the same. But gargoyle is already annoying enough as I previously mentioned. Gargoyles can jump on ur face and attack u, and as long as this skill is triggered, they immediately become invincible. You can't hurt them, can't pull them (skills), can't get them dazed. You have to wait until they completely hit the ground. But for players, the character need not to be on the ground, as long as the moving skill destination is set there, the monsters waiting there can already hurt u or give u any debuff they like. Which I think is really unfair.

So above all, They are not hard to kill but they piss u off easily. Can u make some adjustments to it? Many thanks.

Have you also considered?
∙ Some demons that jump.
∙ Complete immunity of opponents while they cast spells.
∙ Hidden opponents.

On gargoyles particularly, I do agree, that it takes time to activate them. As far as I know passing by them, and (or) showing your back to them helps.

Hello! One thing that you should know and it can change how you approach gargoyles is that they are not time activated. They watch one particular spot on the path nearby. Once you step on that spot they wake up (which takes them a second or two) and then attack.

They also can be hit when jumping (at least they should receive damage for instance from shockwaves, damage over time effects and such).

The idea behind their behavior is, as you suspected, to introduce a variable to otherwise a predictable bunch of monsters. Once you see a gargoyle you know that you can charge into the fight unless you are ok with fighting extra monsters.

Having that said, your concerns are noted. I will ask Margret to take a look at how far gargoyles can jump away. However, it can't be too short a distance, otherwise, they won't be able to really escape and heal :-)

Beat the story. Hell maps I found a bit irritating with those jumping away demons coupled with the fact I couldn't readily reach them after they jumped to another tile. Not to mention the infinite spawning imps from another monster that I can't reach in any decent time, since everything is being blocked or they're in a whole different tile.

Only annoyances I found so far.

I found that part annoying as well. There are so many gargoyles shooting and when they get low health the jump away every time. It takes a long time getting through these levels and it is a bit tedious as they jump away multiple times when at low health to places you can't reach.

I could recommend using stun in all it's forms, as well as freeze. Otherwise, if they jump away they are out of combat and it's easier to deal with them one by one.

For reaching monsters I highly advise forms of teleportation (charge, teleport, leap). Or rely on heals and fight it through.

It probably does feel annoying as it disrupts combat flow sometimes. Finding how to deal with it – is key, I guess. Meanwhile searching for missing hidden monsters as well as jumped far away gargoyles (and missing loot) all over the map is still there.

And u do know that gargoyle cannot be freezed. The reason it is annoying is becauz it combines all the annoyings together.

Thank you for mentioning that. As well as poisoned.
