Black screen?

When I boot up the game I get sound but no picture.

First of all, please send us your log files:
How to find it:
in windows explorer enter path %appdata%\Return2Games_WIP21 and press enter
you will see a folder named after your steam ID
pack it with anything (zip, 7z, rar)
and please email it to [e-mail]


After you send us those log files, please right-click on the game in steam and pick properties->local files->browse local files. Find the file named registry.xml.

In it change these settings to values provided (set lower resolution if your screen doesn't support 1920x1080):

<ScreenPropScalling val="0" />
<Fullscreen val="2" />
<VSync val="1" />


Save the file and try to start the game. Let me know if anything changed. If the screen is black again try pressing alt+enter a few times while the game is running. Again, let me know if that helped (should re-init game in windowed mode).

You can also try to hit ALT + Enter while the sound is on, to see if it gets to windowed mode and it may help.

Did you just get the game or did you return to it after a break? I'm asking because this black screen thing was fixed in recent updates (or at least we thought so) and I'm curious if you had old settings file or is the bug not dead yet :-)

Ive had it for awhile. Played it last week, worked fine on boot up. I noticed theres been a few updates for this game and just today is did this. Works fine now

Had a similar problem a few days ago - while everything works perfectly fine on my two desktop PCs so far, the first start after a fresh install on my GDP WIN (Z8750 CPU) resulted in a black screen without sound. Did a hard reset to the device and it worked on the second startup, didn't have any problems since then.

If you encounter black screen again please send us your logs so we can investigate how it happened. Darkness posted the instruction how to find them in the second post of this thread. Thank you in advance :-)
