A few questions troubling me...
The 3rd parts of most trilogies are always either a great disappointment or the most epic thing. So, despite anticipation, I have my doubts.

But - I know, that this game was on in English on fan translation and in Japanese for a long time. So, would love if you guys answer a few questions:

1)Will there be a branching narrative, multiple routes, like in first 2 parts? Or "the definitive ending" means linear novel?

2)I heard so much about PTSD and stuff, but Unlimited had only 2 endings for each girl, both of which were pretty neutral. Does this game have bad ends, like real bad, consequences of wrong choices?

3)Will there be, ehm, Alternative romance options - I mean, with girls who were not romanceable/didn't appear in previous series?

There is only one ending to wrap up everything. The choices will change minor details. I've read about 20 visual novels and I can say that Muv-luv Alternative is the best one so far.

If you have time, I would also highly recommend watching the 'Kimi ga Nozomu Eien' anime before reading Alternative. It's an adaptation of a visual novel in the same universe as Muv-luv Extra that introduces some important characters.

1- There is only one route. This is the "True Route", where ♥♥♥♥ actually happens, so it's at least better and longer than the other game.
2- There is only one end. There is a point in the story that is like a bad end, but it doesn't end, it just get worse and worse.
3- See answer 1.

Introduces the EXTRA version of the characters, which is kind of useless. Also, Watching the anime would spoil the VN, which is planned to be released in english sometime in the future (at least before HL3).

I have only played Muv-Luv Unlimited and the ending left OMG ♥♥♥♥ is getting bad but doesn't show it really. As I sit here reading various comments and looking at a few spoilers, I feel like I'm going to be getting on Mr. Bones Wild Ride. Wish I could devote time to playing this right now but got a lot of other stuff on my plate to deal with.

This is the best vn I've read in my life, even better than stein's gate (not bad, but not epic too). It was also released for us backer way before the end of august and most of us finished it in a week (50 hour playthrough average).

There is only 1 ending but your choices will affect who you spend time with (so more story for that chosen character), nothing you do will affect the ending though.

I don't know what PTSD does, but at some point in the game I was so tempted to just stop and end the game there because it was too painful to continue, yet I went through and loved every minute of it. At the very end I get a feeling of emptiness so at most you'll have the same feeling. You'll be wanting more muvluv but there are no muvluv right now >.>

Unfortunately there are no romance options in this game, so too bad. You get to be with 1 girl and 1 girl only despite getting choices. Your character has a personality and he sticks to it (hate it or not, I hate him tbh).

Anyways hope you enjoy the best VN ever. Like I said and will keep saying to everyone that is looking forward to the game, the first 20 hours of this game is the worst part, once you hit the 20 hour mark the pain train starts and when it starts, it never stops, so make sure you have a lot of time on your hand before getting through the 20th hour cause your brain will want to know what happens next!

Thank you guys for explaining this to me. Im not really into linear novels, I prefer free choice. And also I HATE Sumika, and cringe every time MC going on about her, really frustrating stuff. While here I suppose forced romance with her is inevitable...

But in the end, I think i'll give this one a try. Hope it will not turn into same дepьмo as Sunrider did in last episode.

1. There's only one route
2. The stuff you heard about PTSD is spot on. Muv Luv is a dark franchise in general and this game is where the series basically dropped the more family friendly stuff and made clear "THIS IS WAR."
3. Answer 1 again. There's only one route and one romance in it.

Alternative Sumika is a bit more dramatic than the original one, I didn´t find her as insufferable.
If you start reading this VN you won´t just be giving it a try, you´ll understand why does it have those high ratings.

So I should treat this game more like a kinetic VN with only some minor route choises?
Sandaali Sep 18, 2017 @ 4:29pm
They are not even worth calling routes. Just some lines of extra dialogue with the character you choose.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents here, I also watched the 'Kimi ga Nozomu Eien' Anime before and I feel it was a good choice, didn't regret it at all. Knowing the EXTRA version of the characters isn't useless. Makes you appreciate the Unlimited/Alternative versions more. Same deal here as knowing the EXTRA versions of the main characters. It adds to the experience.

The only reason not to do this if you really want to play the VN and don't want to spoil it. I wasn't even aware that they are planning to release it.

Your standards are very low then because this is the most overrated VN ever.
