That means doing side missions and slaughter ALL the titans on the battleground...
Rather then being a scrub and going straight for the main objective and going for the neck right away.....
Maybe you should like actually read cus that isn't the only thing I said......
This way you ensure numerous things such as:
-Materials.
-A and S rank companions.
-S rank mission scores.
-High score rating for the mission.
^ Which in turn gives more rewards such as materials.
Not really, i needed 50 "Low Quality Rare Metals" for upgrades and found that i got exactly the same 2 pieces every time i completed the mission. It didn't matter if i beat it in 29 seconds, or powered through for the S rank. So when grinding missions for crafting item rewards, try to beat the level as quickly as you can.
It's only worth getting the S rank if you need cash or mob drops. If you need cash, i would suggest doing the (i forget the name, sorry) survey missions that come one right after the other. The bonus income is well worth the time.
Erin in titan mode has been able to overpower any armored titan boss i come across in one go. If well planned and executed, a single Erin titan can wipe out a quarter to a half of the enemies on the map, getting their materials as you go. Jumping is faster than walking and is a great way to get through buildings and tarriain.
Pro tip, beating a side mission in titan mode recharges your titan meter. It's great if you don't get an escort mission. If you do, just deactivite titan mode to get a head start on your next charge.
Titan crystal don`t drop in main story missions (except epilogue) regardless of your actions.
