A game does automatically uses anchor on buildings, trees or whatever for you but you have fully control and freedom to move around a map when or whereever you want, up and down left and right. It's actually simple and easy, you press one button to shoot anchor and it will automatically launch on something then you float into sky then press your movement button to control your character to move in direction you want. You can also use your anchor to climb a wall or buildings.
However when fighting a titan you get to choose where to hook your anchor into, their arms, legs or their nape, you also have fully control to move left right up and down, and choose when to move in to attack and out to avoid getting grabbed.
That being said, between the anchors and boosting, you can pick up some pretty insane speed, and the control is mostly on point. Every once in a while you get a bit of wierdness where your anchors connect to something behind you and pretty much cut off your momentum, but thats about it.
Still looks like a neat game.
If you want something more complex, and got a decent rig, look up Guedin's AoT fan game. It uses full physics with manually controlled anchor placement. Need a good machine, because its not really optimized at all, being one guys project on the side.
Maybe watch Jim Sterling's impression on it. It should answer most questions about gameplay mechanics and the such.
Also recommend Attack on Titan The Tribute game.
The tribute game depends purely on players' skills, while the Attack on Titan Wings of Freedom heavily depends on players' gears. I love AoTWoF tho. It is just so cool with all the cinematic and character animation.
In the tribute game, every titan besides some special titans, Annie for example , takes only one hit to the nape to kill. However, the most difficult part of the game is to land that hit correctly.
You might want to try that game. You have the full manual control of your character.
Also it actaully take time to get use too the flying its what make this game amazing lol...
That's the problem. It seems like it's a little too easy to move. I was expecting something a little more difficult, and all of the difficulty seems to come from how much health the titans have and how much damage they do to you rather than needing really precise twitch reactions to not get eaten.
Looks like a game where you farm items instead of improving your game mechanics.
