anyone knows why i cannot open the safe in the haunted manor right before the fight with the undead wizard? unfortunately i could not find any clue on the internet.

The secret is: there is no real hint anywhere and yet you can figure it out.

Hint from me:
When you’re turning the dial, you’ll know when you’re coming up to the next number as the screen will shake. Go for trial and error while you handle the safe like real safes usually work to figure out the 5 digit code.

Solution:
The code is 4 2 6 7 2. However, you have a time limit and you’ll want to turn the dial in the correct directions so you don’t run out of time. So, the order is: anti-clockwise 4, clockwise 2, clockwise 6, anti-clockwise 7, anti-clockwise 2.
