There are some spots on the map where you're able to do that.

I looked all over the map and pressed a lot of buttons while it was open, I could not find a way to save the game.

I checked the game play menu and in there is no mention of saving games, yet the exit menu clearly states that all unsaved info will be lost.

Sorry, I did not explain myself well. You are only able to save the game into the weird fortune machines distributed in some spots of the level. If you unlock the map, you will see where are that spots.
