Romance?
I do notice the romance tag, but based on my recollection of the novel (or at least what I've heard about the novel), there's no romance in it whatsoever. Is the addition of F/F dating a creative liberty this game is taking with the source material, or is it simply a mistag?

The original features what tropers would call 'romantic friendships' (there's a good bit of hugging and kissing and declarations of love and so on) which are often toned down in modern adaptations of the story. This version is pushing that balance a little bit back the other direction and turning some of those romantic friendships into more clear romance.

Not all of them. Lottie's route is not romantic in the slightest, she's far too young.

If you're deeply familiar with the original novel you may find it interesting to have the book with you as you read through and see how the new material has been entwined with the old. Some characters have very litle backstory or presence in the original book, so a great deal of invention has taken place. Other characters (like Amelia Minchin) have been dropped.

In the movie I remember some romance going on, it was one of my favourite movies as a child.
The boarding school chef falls in love with Amelia Minchin (the sister of the headmistress). And I'm sure they went on secret dates
