ammo types
It seems there's three categories of weapons, energy, missiles, bullets.

I have first two since the start, found some weapons of first two types and for missiles each weapon has its ammo type, but I don't see what's those bullets. I don't remind in controls any for a third weapon, anyway it would be complicated to have to three weapons switches.

I'm in third mission, and found only few secrets in first two (despite I tried search for more before finishing a mission.

Any explanation on those bullets? It's rather weird.

The bullets are for some of the guns (Primary weapons) you can collect, like the Driller for example uses bullets instead of energy.

There's no third weapon, your primary weapon comes in 2 types, ones that use energy and ones that use bullets.

You have 2 sets of weapons, Primary and Missiles and the Primary has 2 types of of ammo depending on which Primary weapon you select. The type of ammo used, Energy or Bullets, changes automatically to match the Primary weapon you select.

Hope this makes sense

Thank you, I saw the driller in mission description of 3rd mission, I found already a new weapon but energy, not yet the driller.

I find the secrets a bit tough to find. I whish there was more with a visual hint so you have some idea of what and where you are searching.

I noticed closed doors/traps not looking like doors but triggering the message the door is closed. I wondered if there was anything to do about that.

If you use the map and zoom in, you can spot quite a lot of the secret areas...it's then trying to work out how to get to it

Also once you know what some of the bits of wall / secret doors that open when shot, you can spot a slight difference visually

Shooting or Flares can open secret doors and there's some objects that if you shoot open a door close by

Shoot on this or that is not that intuitive when you save ammo. That said for flares it's good to know, now they are free.

Yes the problem is sort what to shoot at or not, I found multiple closed door, but never noticed anything around.

I'll check one of the video quoted above to have some example, for me this design detail is a bit weird, guess what is a switch or not looks weird.

EDIT:
That said I vaguely remind that I tried bump on one red square (but not looking right like the one that opened a door), and not once second I thought that if bump wasn't working shoot at could.

It's easier to use your primary weapons as a means to find doors as you progress through the game, as many weapon upgrades allow you to use less energy or bullets per shot. In general, if you're looking for secret doors, there are two general indicators of one being nearby. The first is a circle that's glowing red and seems to be standing out from the wall. Those are switches, and shooting at them will activate whatever they control. The other indicator is if you see a device that resembles a vertical cylinder with a globular bulge at the mid-point. These are mini-reactors, and they usually provide power to force fields and secret door. If you come a door that you can't open, then look at your map and see if there's a filled-in section that you haven't visited yet. These usually hold a switch or reactor.

I saw there's guides, they should start by showing types of graphics that are special, all type of switches, all mini reactor (very weird I still didn't quote any when I already saw multiple reactors).

I doubt this game language is clear for many players.

Well, they're pretty self-explanatory. The secret doors are either a double or quad door, where that tile will look slightly lower and/or a different colour to the rest of the wall. Switches are always giant red buttons, mini reactors are always big reactor-ish objects that stick out like a sore thumb, and both of these things are introduced as part of main progression rather than secrets.

Reactors have a HP bar, eventually I just never see any mini, because it was behind something.

If for you buttons are clear fine, not at all for me until I read about it, then ok if it's always big circle red, now it's clear.

There's two types of reactors. The first type is the main reactor. This type always has a HP bar, and it's sometimes contained within a bot (these are always boss fights). Mini-reactors don't start appearing until level 6 or so, so that's probably why you haven't found any yet. The general rule of thumb both types is that if it flashes when you shoot it, destroying it is probably a good thing.

Do you see what you wrote? Shoot any type of elements to see if it flashes? Common. :-)

But ok I think that now with all the information I'll quote better interactive elements.

I wasn't talking about ANY type of gameplay element, I was just talking about the reactors. I'm serious on that account. Both types of reactors will flash a bright orange-yellow color when they take damage, and an intact reactor can block your progress in this game.
Dorok Jul 2, 2020 @ 10:15am
Wait there's reactors that don't get any damages? Ok I see now you mean there's no HP bar but you can confirm they take damages because there's a flash. Ok that's clear, thanks it can help if such small reactors need many shot.
Valden21 Jul 2, 2020 @ 4:47pm
How much damage the smaller reactors take before getting destroyed is largely due to thee different factors: what weapon you're using at the time, whether you've any upgrade points on that weapon, and whether there's an obstacle between you and the small reactor (some of the later mini-reactors have a force field or a cross-shaped wall blocking you). In general, every weapon will get better as you upgrade it, until you reach the last upgrade level. At the last upgrade level for each weapon, you're given a choice of how you want the weapon to behave. For example, each upgrade level for the Impulse (that basic laser cannon you start with) improves the damage, energy consumption, and rate of fire. But when you reach the final upgrade level, you'll need to choose between two different upgrades, and which ever one you choose becomes permanent for that playthrough.
Dorok Jul 2, 2020 @ 10:11pm
It's bizarre that there isn't choices before. But anyway at first there's many upgrades to choose, the choice is for priority not exclusivity.

With all the secrets I failed found I already get a penalty. Anyway I'll probably will be quickly stuck as the difficulty increase is steady, but I won't progress steadily, and even not much more already.

If I restart again I think I'll try find all secrets or most before leaving first mission, this should help.
