If you already have DU, you can compare it to the Overload Demo/Teaser and see if you like it enough to get the full game.

Overload carries on the exact tradition of Descent with the same developers. It is basically the same game updated to 2018 stardards. The ship control is amazing. The game is amazing.
DE is Descent in name only. The game is supposed to take Descent in a different direction. Development all but stopped. They delisted and found a new backer. There have been no updates for a long time. All they say is we will love it and they avoid offering any real information. There is no proof that SP exists. The ship control sucks.
Oh dear...
so I'm just glad that the 6d0f genre is being revived and I'm happy that there is overload and that there will be another game in autumn
basicaly this game improved original concept a lot and make it even more fun.
you cant go wrong if you are fan of videogames
To the point, however, D:U is pretty good when you get into it. Is it Descent? Iunno. With a certain "not pyro" ship it feels more Descent than Overload does. In VR it's quite the difference. D:U feels better. That said...
Overload is definitely Descent through and through. All the 6DOF cave diving robot chompy goodness. I'm not a huge fan of the leveling system in Overload. I don't think it needs it. I'd prefer a nice polished Descent. Stop trying so hard to overly modernize something that was already great 20+ years ago. Just give us some upgrades and the quintessential afterburner drop.. let us trichord with our gauss rifles and smart bombs...
Overload has been a mix of the same so far, graphics and input issues, though I haven't dug out my hotas again yet to try. Weird issues like my mouse buttons randomly stoping working and graphics freaking out have prevented me from getting past training and the first level. I'd love to get through more than 1-2 levels per sitting.
Quite annoying, I like this for the feel far better than D:U so far, but not sure how well unity really supports linux, as it's been the weak link consistently for many linux games, including D:U.
