is there any possibility of having multiple keys configured for a single action?
i.e. sliding with the "Alt" key and all 4 arrow keys. Descent 3 had this ability, and i really got used to it.

Some keyboards offer that.

i guess maybe i didn't say that right. i want to use the 4 arrow keys for pitch - up, down, left, right.
but then just press the Alt key to change them to slide. the Overload keyboard configuration does not allow having 2 separate keys in one selection box.

Yes you can use Alt to slide.

Go to remap mouse/keyboard
Click on "Additional Controls"
And set Alt as the "Slide Modifier"

If you want it to work just like Descent 1-3 you'll also need to go Control Options\Advanced
And turn on "Invert Slide Modifier Y"

With this turned on, when you push the up arrow your ship will pitch down (Like pushing a joystick forward), but when you hold alt and push the up arrow, your ship will slide up (instead of down).
