I heard Forsaken was more popular than Descent, particularly the Play Station version. I can explain the many references. Calm down a little. Too much time at troll hunting make us see them everywhere :-) I know the feeling...
They might be trolls, or they may just be people who never got to play Descent. Seeing as how it was on the Playstation 1 and PC (which required a moderately hefty pc to run it) it's entirely possible someone (like an N64 owner) never got to play it.
Forsaken was a similar game, released after Descent, so that is probably their only point of reference. As I recall, the gameplay in Forsaken was fairly sluggish and Descent was much better - faster, and more challenging (at least on pc)
@Iustucc
Forsaken was a bit better on PS1 - I think it was probe software / acclaim who released it, and they had better technical chops with the limited power available on the PS1 than the devs who converted Descent. Plus it was built with consoles in mind, whereas Descent wasn't. Most pc to consoles conversions of that time were...not great
Maybe people who played descent were PC owners, and Consoles were for the young gamers. And maybe now there are many more of those "rookie" gamers still around Steam than old PC owners from 1995. ?
Besides, Forsaken was actually a pretty good game. I don't think it was as good as Descent, but I don't think many things are.
Yes, Overload is much like Forsaken. Same genre, but very much refined for a modern audience. :)
