Titan Forge - The gate to Hell.
I am to the point I just destroyed a small generator in a large room FULL of bots. Many of the bots are sending out homing spheres. There must be 100 or more all homing in on me. This seems imposable to get through. Anyone make it and if so, how?

lol ah yes, the first big difficulty spike. It took me more tries than I care to admit lol. You can cheese it a little if you want, by dragging them back through the door, but you're gonna have to kill them all (or at least a majority) to continue through the level. I think it'll be hellllla funny to see the rage coming from speedrunners in that spot. There's so many Creepers is kind of funny. Luckily the shield generator has a pretty good siteline from near the door. Destroy that and the key is quick to grab.

This was my reaction last night on Discord:

"lmfao Titan Forge is nutty AF!!!!
yo, howww hahahaha
This is insane"
I would love to watch a video of this done. I may be at a point I can no longer progress.

I actually dropped to Hotshot from Ace for that level because of that spot.

Just got to Titan Forge. Jesus that level is amazing. Some intense dogfights in those caves and a kickass track too - talk about ramping it up.

I had to drop down to ace when facing the Goliath, he got a little too intense for me (autosaves only). It's refreshing to play a game again that actually get harder as you progress, even DUSK diddn't do that to any significant degree. I'll see if I can get through this one without dropping down again.

EDIT: Miasmic corrected me. I was thinking of the wrong area, sorry!

D2D, I believe he is referring to the 3rd key card room

Yeah he's talking about this room (spoilers): https://youtu.be/fDPQbCwUn5w?t=3h47m10s (Yinut's playthrough). It was definitely one of my favorite areas in the game.

Thanks, Miasmic. My mistake.

I just got through this one, on first try :D (though I probably wouldn't have if this thread hadn't warned me to stay focused). Jesus that was insane; talk about andrenaline rush. Even having read this thread I was still suprised at how crazy it actually got. Most terrifying part was panickly speeding for a cave to get some cover only to bump into swarms of those suicide guys. Level designers definitely had some fun.
This is kicking my ass. I have it saved in the cave just outside the door to hell. I enter and I get hit with everything from everywhere. It's just a rocket fest and my ass is the target. Those homing spheres are doing the most damage I think.

I think it helps to have played challenge mode a bit. It trains you in how to move around without taking damage; while in campaing mode you can often get away with taking it more slowly and peek around corners.

The trick here is not to worry about hitting stuff, and do not play akwardly evasive. You should be aggressively speeding forwards at all times (even if there's enemies right in front of you, don't turn back or anything - keep moving straight towards them and just dodge). The room is shaped like a circle so make sure you're circling it. Don't worry about that spawner for now. Use a lot of afterburner and only stop for a moment to fire secondaries; then go back to afterburner. Novas are great here because you can just fire them into walls that are close-ish to clusters of enemies. So are creeper mines; once you speed past a cluster of enemies turn around (remember to keep moving in the same direction as before by backpedaling) and dump mines. Devestators are great too; just fire them everywhere and you'll kill stuff. Keep circling to herd enemies behind you, take out clusters of enemies with big secondaries and otherwise just kill as you get the opportunity - but never stop circling.

Is there a bot generator in there?
GepardenK Jun 3, 2018 @ 4:20pm
Yes, but it's output is insignificant compared to what's already in the room. It wont activate unless you circle to the other side. But this shouldn't stop you from circling so that you can get some forward momentum and herd the auto-ops - nevermind that it get's activated, you can deal with it later once the enemy count is down.
Ok thanks.
