VR World Scale Major Problem : Everything is huge and I am so small.
I had to ask for a refund because it made me feel uncomfortable. Like I was having a nightmare. The seat in the cockpit is 5 feet wide and the flight stick is 3 feet tall. I turned off the cockpit, it makes more sense, but the immersion is now gone. I also think that the corridors are way too huge, small corridors are like 200 feet wide. It just does not look right. Proper stereo separation would fix all this.

Please add an option to increase or decrease stereo separation (world scale). And while you are at it, please allow us to turn off bloom. My eyes are not a camera and it feels like my HMD lens are dirty.

PS : everything else is perfect and I played with Microsoft Mixed Reality.

If you fix this, I will buy the game again. I am really disappointed.

The devs ran out of money last year and each went their separate ways; that's why they're not doing anything with the game anymore. They announced it on the Steam forums about a month or so before it happened.

So where do the money go for the proceeding sales? Whoever gets that money might be interested in investing a tiny sum of money to substantially increase the value of the game.

Unfortunately most don't know how much it costs to develop games and continue support for them, and often times if a game studio can't afford payroll (which is often the case after a game is released), the designers/programmers/artists that have the know-how to make those changes won't be available.

It can also be a real bummer for a game director when their work of love doesn't net enough sales to even recover costs, much less pay for additional content/support.

Game development is not a prestigious career with fat paychecks, limousines, champagne, and private jets. More often you'd make a bigger profit working retail than you would starting a game studio, where just finishing a project without debt would be considered a victory.

Sadly they won't make any new money. I would buy this game if it was fixed.

Sucks for you. Nothing is wrong with the game. Just got in after a hiatus and knocked around a few levels. Badass game. Too bad they went under.

Simply put, gtf over it or move along.

I wonder how hard it would be to mod the game to fix this...
MarquisDeSang Aug 20, 2020 @ 2:47pm
it would be easier if Steam VR had the option of changing the stereo separation.

It´s probably doable if someone would have the time, skills and will power. Scaling stereo separation is the easy part (since it can be done by editing a SteamVR text file) but scaling headtracking is the hard part. There allready exists a working scale mod for Arktika 1. The modder used cheat engine. Cheat engine let´s you hook into a bunch of parameters in every game. The problem is that you don´t know what each parameter does. The modder had to experiment with each parameter to see what they did. There are a loooot of paremeters so that took him a loooong time. Eventually he found the specific parameters that controls x,y,z transform values for head position which was necessary for scaling head tracking. This all is from my memory of what I have read about the mod.

However, using cheat engine might ban you from playing multi player so that might not be a good idea in this particular game.

I made a quick mod for changing the scale in Unity games: https://github.com/Raicuparta/unity-scale-adjuster

Seems to work well here. Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you. Give me a star on GitHub if you like it ;)

I just tried it and I am sorry to say that this only scales the camera ipd and not the camera tracking. We allready had the ability to do that by changing the IpdOffset value in one of SteamVR:s config text files. Is anyone else able to scale the camera tracking aswell?

I prefer to play VTOL VR instead of trying to revive a dead horse.

Good news!

Thanks to the latest SteamVR beta update you can now play this game at any scale you want. SteamVR has now implemented a world scale slider! You will find it under "per applikation video settings" I think it is called.

The best way to play this game by far is in toy mode. Set the world scale slider to the lowest which is 10 %. Go into the Overload settings. Disable the cockpit and set the reticule to minimal. And Voila! The entire world is now toy sized!
