Can I use Oculus Touch controllers as a gamepad?
I don't have a dedicated gamepad / joystick. I understand that in some games the Oculus Touch controllers can act as a gamepad - without location tracking etc, but the buttons and joysticks work. Does this work in Overload? Or does it absolutely need a separate gamepad / joystick?

I don't have the game (was just looking at the forums for extra info), so I can't definitively answer your question, but unless the game requires the d-pad, then you should be able to use a utility like xPadder to map the controls to the Oculus Touch, I would imagine.

Thanks for your reply - I hadn't heard of xpadder. I'll probably buy Overload tonight and try it out.

For testing you can also try the Overload playable teaser. It's got pretty bad performance in AI since it's essentially rendering twice (I think) but it should at least let you know if it works before you buy! Though I guess there is also the refund system now.

Does anyone have additional insight into Touch controller support?
I think I remember the Dev's saying you need to use a joystick, gamepad, or KB/M for VR control. Search the forum or read the game page.
Here is the game page:
The VR mode for this game requires the use of a gamepad or a keyboard and mouse.

Is oculus touch support being considered at all? The HOTAS style controls in games like VTOL VR feel far more instinctual than a controller or M&K and it would benefit greatly from it.

Please re-read my question...

So... buy a HOTAS? Overload has great HOTAS support.

Ok. That's cool, but still not answering the question... All I wanted to know was if they plan on adding support for the touch controllers in the future at all.

The dev said no support for touch controllers.

Ok...let me rephrase then.

Is it being considered IN THE FUTURE, or is the game settled as is?
In what way would you expect them to function ideally?

Have you tried VTOL VR? It works fantastic. You hold the touch controllers where the stick and throttle are, grip and you move them like a real HOTAS. It works really well if you have arms on your chair, because it lets you adjust the placement of the in-game cockpit HOTAS.
Except I imagine it wouldn't be a throttle on the left, instead two sticks. You can accomplish all degrees of rotation movement with them. The only questionable would be up & down really. The sticks click in, you have two buttons on each (four total) to switch weapons or turn on lights, etc.

Hell what would be real slick is, like in VTOL, have buttons in the cockpit you can actually use. Then you don't need everything mapped to controller buttons.

If it's not planned it's not a big deal, but the game doesn't feel like a legit VR game without an actual HOTAS or VR stick HOTAS simulation....and you're right, one can "just buy a HOTAS" but generally speaking if someone buys a $400-800 VR system, their first thought isn't "What other pricery peripherals should I buy" you know?
