Sorry to hear that you've lost your campaign progress.
It sounds as though there might be some problem with your local save data.
To resolve this, I'd like to recommend that you please delete your local save and launch the game.
Provided that you have Steam cloud sync enabled (please make sure that you do), launching the game should pull any cloud saves down from the server.
Your local save should be in the location below:
- C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\LocalLow\Ghost Town Games\Overcooked
Please change *Your Username* as required. If you do not see the folder AppData, it may be that you have not set hidden files and folders to visible. To do this please follow the steps below:
- Open up Control Panel
- Select Appearance and Personalization
- Under File Explorer Options select Show hidden files and folders
- In the View tab look for Show hidden files, folders, and drives and make sure the it is checked
If the issue is persisting, please get back in touch and I'll do my best to help you further.Thank you,
Team17_Assistance
This causes issues when you have multiple Windows accounts on the same machine. What Steam does (you may or may not like that) is using the same Steam account for all user accounts on the same machine. Both Windows users end up syncing their saved data to the same Steam cloud save location and last user bluntly overwrites the data of the first user. In this case Steam does warn you on inconsistent local/cloud saves, but this is a tricky dialog if you do not know exactly what is happening.
Tip to devs; do not save to the users' 'AppData' folder. You could argue whether or not it is preferred to have user specific saves, but at least it would be consistent with what Steam is doing.
We played for the first time until the pirate ship (as can be seen by the archievments). Next day we continued the game and it started from zero. So we played a bit. Next day it was back to zero again.
So I tried again, played a bit, exit the game (not steam) and restarted the game and only then the progress was saved. Still all initial progress is lost.
Very frustrating but seemingly rare problem.
