Moonlight Streaming for Multiplayer

I'm planning to test this out for local co-op. Just thought I'd give others a heads up. I have used it before and it works decently for those with great connections :)

You'll have to manually add overcooked to the geforce experience.

Here are the requirements for it - http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/system-requirements

Seriously....this is probably the answer to our prayers haha Idk how no one is even looking at this.
Lirik tried the gamestream from nvidia as well so he could play with his friend, shorty, but said it was a no go because it was too laggy in game. I'm kinda iffy about this method as a result because if a streamer with great internet could not get this to work, how would it work for regular plebs? :(
Bumping this thread, as Moonlight works great! I think it only supports 2 players though.

My friend installed the Moonlight Chrome browser extension and can connect to my computer to launch and play Overcooked.

Here's the download link for the extension .crx file:
https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-chrome/releases
You just drag/drop it into the 'Menu > More Tools > Extensions' page.

The only things I had to do on my PC were:

1) Make sure SHIELD streaming was enabled (by checking the "Allow this PC to stream games to SHIELD devices" box under 'Preferences > SHIELD')

2) Add Overcooked to the Games & Apps list for SHIELD.

3) Forward the correct TCP/UDP ports on my router firewall.

Here's the wiki for setting up Moonlight, which includes the ports you need to forward:
https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-docs/wiki/Setup-Guide#streaming-over-the-internet

My friend said he barely notices any latency. The only problem we had was that if he uses an Xbox Controller it takes over control of my own Xbox Controller (since SHIELD just uses the Joy1 controller profile for the remote controller input). I was able to get around this problem by installing DS4Windows and using my PS4 controller. However, I'm sure something like VJOY would also work in this situation, since it creates a seperate controller profile.

Thanks for some replies finally xD. I noticed your post last night Jeff and knew you were on the same page lol As for lirik trying it, who knows. Maybe it'll work better for some. I'm going to test it out this weekend and hopefully it won't be too laggy.
Let us know if it works for you or not. If it does, I might consider purchasing this game
Op you don't own the game tho, how you testing this ?

Also I am laughing since all the negative review on this game are people crying cuz no online coop
I Mean .... it says in the store page that it has no online coop only local and yet they buy it just to play it for 14 minutes and cry ...sigh
This actually does work pretty good. Main thing is though is that the host PC needs to have a nvidia card. Everyone else doesn't. While only one player can connect online through it, you can have 3people on the host pc playing. Just follow this https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-docs/wiki/Setup-Guide#using-a-gamepad-connected-to-the-pc-instead-of-the-streaming-device
Person connected will have to use a keyboard i believe though. But 3people at the host PC can all use xbox controllers.
You do need good enough net though. Been using the java client as chrome was acting weird with it.

Nvidia experience/shield allows you to stream games to devices from the host PC over the net or through the home wifi
I plan to buy it lol I have just been on vacation all week. I'm going to test tonight and let you guys know. I think you can use more than one controller (perhaps ps4 ones will work) because I don'th ave xbox conttrollers, only ps4.
If you have an older GPU that the Nvidia Share program does not work with, please check out my new forum post for another workaround
I was able to get this to work but it was kind of a painful experience and there are lot of incompatible programs you have to watch out for (like teamviewer xD). I'm having a hard time getting it to work with my friends though.

I will note that I tested it between two computers in my home via a VPN (Evolve Platform which is similar to hamachi) and was able to connect through those IP's instead of having to open ports and stuff.
If you are trying to play local games it works as a charm (moonloght + vpn or firewall unblocking). I currently tested heavy games with local co-op and fighting (which require low latency). Just remember that both you and partner must have good internet connections (my current down and upstream internet is 300Mbps - which makes me a good host).
Ok, I have the Nvidia thing, and Moonlight. How can I connect with my friend, or he with me ? Thanx guys

Wow, never thought I'd see this post again. There are some great YT guides and Google guides for it. But to be honest, I'd probably just recommend getting Overcooked 2 if you can, as it supports online multiplayer by default and is far easier to play with that.

Thanx vor replying. I did refund Overcooked, and bought the second part. Playing together (and with controller) is not an issue anymore. Too bad they can not change this in the first part. Greetz :flowers:
