You can, but I wouldn't say it's a good idea. I would even call it a bad idea. By yourself, you'd still have two characters and you'd have a key to press to switch characters. The game will be way harder and really frustrating.

It is possible to play by yourself--I've done it with some success, but it's nowhere near as fun with other people. If they would implement an AI counterpart I could see singleplayer being worthwhile but honestly it is more difficult than fun at the moment.
its possible but dosn`t make fun, i refundet it today, will buy it maybe again when it has 80% or in a bundle, or earlier if they ever add multiplayer online

In single player I find it rather challenging, because you have to synchronize both of your cooks yourself.
I managed it today to the level 4-2 until now, but I am having trouble getting 35 stars to unlock level 4-3 on my own (having (32/35). Not sure if I will be able solve this on my own, so I might require the asisstance of my girlfriend.

Here is one tip for the single players, which I just found out today, because I was obviously to lazy to read the tutorial:
There is a button for running faster, which you can press several times. For the keyboard this is the key ALT. I hope it helps a little.

I came here looking for this same question/answer. I was thinking that I am gonna have issues playing this alone which really sucks. I do not understand why the Devs do not add online multiplayer to this, its quite ridiculous that a game made for co-op play is not online multiplayer.

Yes, you can play alone. No, the game was no designed for it.

They really should remove the Single Player description on the store page because while the game can technically be played alone, it's pretty much impossible to do.

I thought screw i'll give it a shot.(SP) yeah couldn't do it. Not very fun playing alone and the game was not built for it. Switching between people is so annoying and yeah very sad it doesn't have online mode

If you want to try something abit more ridiculous assuming you are using a controller. Try split controller mode and control 2 chefs at the same time.

Could not agree. It is less fun and more challenging, but it is very much doable. Just got all 3 stars in solo, keyboard is not broken after that endeavor. :)

Having a system in place for each level helps as well as using the dash when possible.
