Day of Infamy
Silencer for Sten
I came across this, looks like a WIP for DOI when it was just a mod.

Would be nice to have this add on for brits, but make it 5 points to have the silencer. To balance it, firing the weapon too much could overheat it, like in RTCW.

In due time it will be added for the commandos. Also, the silencer is fixed to the weapon, you can't remove it.
Sounds very cool.. Will the germans get any silenced weaponry?

Not sure but I found this on found this on axishistory.com, it seems they never really did.

- P-08 pistol with silencer;some pictures prove that it existed;unfortunately no more information
- Walther PP with silencer (?)
- Walther PPK with silencer (caliber 5.6mm);some pictures prove that it existed;unfortunately no more information
- P-38:no silenced version existed in WW2; all silenced P-38 (P-1) were built after the war
- Revolver 612(r) [Nagant 1885]: a silencer was developed by the "SS-Waffenakademie"; prototype only (?)
- Steyr M12/M16 machine pistol with silencer (thx varjag); used by the Brandenburger
- silenced Erma EMP: not used by theGermans (see France)
- silenced Mp-40:prototype only
- Mp 751(e) [Sten Mk2(s)] said to be the most used silenced weapon by the Germans; Otto Skorzeny was said to have a Mp 751(e) as his personal weapon; some sources claim the Mp751e) wasused during the operation "Greif" in 1944
- G43: all G43 from the mid-1944 to 1945 production were able to use a suppressor, but these silencers seem to be very rare
- K98K: some K98K got a German rebuilt of the Soviet S-40 silencer; no other information
- Kommando-Karabiner: special rifle with the silencer of the Mp 751(e); only four Karabiner were built
- Stg-44: several of my sources claim that some silencers for the Stg-44 and its versions (Mp-42 etc.) existed and were used by the Brandenburger

Sniper for Axis has the PPK avaliable, a silencer would be nice as the Brits have a Welrod (Y)

Good point.
No pls. A semi-automatic suppressed pistol will COMPLETELY outdo a bolt action pistol.

As Maki said, the Commandos will appear in their due time with their respective stuff, Mk II-S included. Just like how the Airborne will get their Mk V.

Toned down because I got angsty for a stupid reason.

Americans could get the Silenced Grease gun

http://www.deactivated-guns.co.uk/images/grease_silenced/grease_silenced_2.jpg

It was called the Hudson SMG and was only issued to OSS agents. But I for one would like to see some silencers, especially the Delisle carbine.
Delisle would be a good choice, it won't be overpowered.

Yes. It'll be like a sad excuse for a bolt action rifle. It's like a Welrod, just more accurate and chambered in .45ACP. By the way, it's an unrealistic choice too, cos it's so rare, with only 149 built.

Btw these are standard units in-game, not special forces, they should get grunts stuff. The less suppressors the better, unless it's the British commandos. Afaik they had the most automatics and the most suppressors in the forms of Welrod Mk IIs and Sten Mk II-S.
The other factions had virtually none.
I had no idea there were so few!

Would be a nice option for the sniper class though, albeit with a high point required to take the gear.

I think H&D2 had a silenced luger, this would be a nice option.

.45ACP is a pistol round, and no sniper would take on the De Lisle. Not to mention there are no scopes for it because it's meant for storming silently.

A silenced Luger makes as much sense as adding a BS-1 Tishina to the AKS-74U in Insurgency. It's a mere experiment and is even rarer than a Bren with 100-round drums. And yes, that is rarer than the De Lisle too.
P08s are officer weapons, they are old but meant for the pure prestige of having rank. An officer would never need a suppressor. Not to mention, if you are trying to stealth as an officer it probably means you are going alone with no radios to give away your position. That is not the right way to promote the kit.

Is it probably more likely that the germans would use a captured supressed sten?

Maybe the Mp3008 would be a good choice.

They are just as likely to use a whole plethora of captured arsenal.

But even then, it's impractical to list every field capture they snag from every country they fight.
