Magazine/Ammo checking?
Are the developers going to add a feature to check the amount of ammo in your weapon? I know Day of Defeat just gives you the amount of ammo in the weapon and it shows you when you're running low, while Ro2 lets you hold R to check how 'heavy' the magazine is.

Well, Insurgency doesn't have it, so I doubt this game will have. You can count most of your shots anyway.

After a while you will be able to approximate about much ammo you have left when you get used to rate of fire and magazine capacity. I find it pretty funny when I spectate players and see them with some weapons with bolts/slides locked to the rear and they think they still have ammo and run into an enemy and they die because they try to shoot and have no ammo.

Invalid argument about approximation of ammo fired : we need a possibility to check ammo for picked up weapons. At least to have a look up the chamber for rifles, maybe unclip and watch for magazines. Maybe a big work, but it's not because Insurgency doesn't have it DOI won't.

There is no reason to pick up enemy weapons in this game other than you burning up ammo way too fast and need something else. I saw a player fool around dropping their G 43 to pick up a K98 with an optic and we ended up losing the match because they got shot in doing so. A plugin can allow you to check ammo and there is one already.

That's part of the risk of picking up a dropped weapon, no reload, no way to check how full the mag is.

Well you can look inside the mag, and estimate the ammount that is left. idk how you will do that neatly with the GUI, and doing it visually would be way to much work for something such small.

Maki, with your answer i said myself "this guy must have a large amount of playing hours on this game". On DOI + Insurgency you have less than 9 hours... How much your advice worth ? I only have 16h, but this game still in alpha and we spoke about missing features. And yes, sometimes you need to take another gun on floor, like dropping a K98 for a MP44 when you're alone in a building against more enemies. Check ammo is realistic and usefull, maybe not for you, but for others players it is.

I have 605 hours in Insurgency and 127 hours in Day of Infamy. Furthermore, I have played Insurgency since the alpha.

No thanks. I'll give it a pass. But feel free to pick up other weapons in case you don't have enough time to reload. Though, you can't get any ammo from dead bodies.

And in 732 hours, you never picked up an enemy's weapon, just to not alert them with the sound of yours ?

Not that I recall, I have no need to.

Could you point me to one of these plugins? I have died many a time when I have one or two bullets in my magazine and don't realize it until it's too late.

Well at least you used the search function.

Well, server plugins are purely server-sided, unless you plan on setting up your own server, you can't check ammo anytime soon.

Inb4 numerator will come in and tell us why we should have ammo checking to be in the game and i'm not gonna bother arguing with him, ask the dev pls.
