It's fine where it is.

AFAIR setting on Low gives best results.

A lot of RAM = no need for heavy Paged Memory usage.
Not a lot of RAM = you better have SSD.

Textures look really bad with it on low.

Now that's weird. I'm too afraid too investigate though, Source Engine is being really b!tchy about my settings changes, I don't want to risk having half-hour loadings again.

Also, with game set to high (mostly) they do look rather good?

Since when the texture handling method (memory-wise) affect the looks of those? :|

can confirm

It's a setting for memory allocation switch so if you have 64bit system and said amount of RAM (12GB) set PPM to High.

Could you elaborate on what amount of RAM Medium & Low is meant for?

If you don't have enough RAM. If you set it to high without enough RAM your game could crash.

Try high.

Not for me and my PC is not the best, i7-4790 and GTX 760. Source does not like newer hardware which is what I am guessing you have.

Nobody still explained what this setting is responsible for? I will get longer loading screens but more stability on "low"?
