If you moved the mouse too far, your sensitivity is too high. If you moved the mouse not far enough, sensitivity is too low.
You can adjust after playing. Some games are a bit faster than others. But in general this is a good starting point.
Start with sensitivity set so that you can do a 180 in a single swipe using the full width of your mousepad. Then you can tweak it to your preference. Personally, I like to lower my sensitivity even more. This makes it slightly harder to turn around, but you can shoot at longer distances more easily.
Some people prefer high sensitivity. I don't really get it. Sure you can turn around fast but if your mouse moves 1cm to do a 360.. gl aiming 2 pixels to the left for that long distance shooting. Plus, I get cramps easily like that.. with low sensitivity you can use ur arm/shoulder.. instead of your wrist. It's much healthier.
Don't focus on the numbers like DPI and mouse sensitivity.. they differ pretty much in every game. Lower DPI gives you lower sensitivity. Don't fall into the marketing trap of higher is better.. a mouse with 4000+ DPI is ridiculous.. I only use 270 DPI atm (which in itself is meaning less because you also need to take into account Windows mouse sensitivity and ingame sensitivity settings). Gaming mice do have real benefits though; you get a lot better tracking on them when you move the mouse really fast.
