Is there a way to play without battleye?
inb4 private server, not with that amount of daily players/lack of friends
I would like to simply play the game without installing spyware on my PC.

My real question is my title, as well as maybe news about it as I just found out today. Will there be any upcoming changes to this new anti-cheat, such as it being optional? Is there the possibility of a refund, especially since this is solely a multiplayer game?

There are pretty much 3~ servers active right now with maybe barely 100 people. I tried joining two different servers and crashed on each (that had people playing).

I'd rather not argue about the ethics of installing such invasive software like the latest ♥♥♥♥-show of a thread (the recent one with hundreds of replies that was locked).

Nope. You'd be better getting Battleye and just ignoring the ethics of it.

Well that was quick.

So what about a refund for something like this? This is a third party thing being forced upon us. I never agreed to this when I bought the game.

Is not affected at all by an anti-cheat. Unless you're a hacker.

"If you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to fear"-type ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. How do you think it works? Try re-reading my main post.

At least they haven't added this to insurgency (yet).

you should read that other thread, and figure out BE does not steal or searches through personal data.
Only your OS and DOI files, with algoritmes to detect not to steal data.

It works by scanning your computer during regular intervals when the platform the service is on (DOI) is running. Same as VAC, same as EAC, same as Punkbuster. And battleye have confirmed it's getting added to Insurgency. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about. Anti cheats work like sonar. Sends out a ping, recieves a response. If it receives a strange response, then it takes action. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.
And since this game is in EA, you must have assumed the game WOULD be altered at some point.

i would have assumed that at some point I would be forced to agree to some third party's spyware? And if I don't agree I'm not allowed to use the product I paid for?

I'm not looking for a shills response, from what I gather this is the way it's going to be from now on. If someone is not looking to agree to this, is their only option now to never play it again or make a refund appeal? It's looking that way.

Look at this way:
You bought a game in it's alpha stage.
You expected the devs to make changes
If the devs made a change to the gameplay that you didn't agree with, does that mean you stop playing the game? No, you adapt.

"Spyware is software that aims to gather information about a person or organization without their knowledge and that may send such information to another entity without the consumer's consent, or that asserts control over a computer without the consumer's knowledge." from wikipedia.

But I give them consent so it's okay! Or at least I'm forced to give consent.
Don't worry it just scans your computer and needs access to great parts of my system to see if there are hacks. If there aren't any you have nothing to fear!
AT&T just keeps records of your phonecalls, when and where, for decades, but if you aren't doing anything bad you have nothing to fear. Just play your games, goyim.

That aside I'm honestly surprised that you two are pressing hard for this software while I stated in my OP this doesn't matter. I wanted to know if it was forced forever and if there were any options to this.

Don't worry it just scans your computer and neegs 'great access' to parts to see if there are hacks. If there aren't any you have nothing to fear!

BE got that reputation at ARMA, where you could spawn in even vehicles with just using Cheat Engine.
So BE at ARMA is rather invasive then normal, but there it also does not steal your personal data..
And I already told you it only scans DOI and the OS files.

It says right at the start that it is invasive, it loads some type of kernal-mode driver, it will need access to 'great parts' of my system.

"Everything that BattlEye does is solely aimed at achieving its goal of preventing and detecting cheating."
Everything that the NSA does is solely aimed at achieving it's goal of protecting the security and interests of the U.S. Goverment and it's people.

I am not commenting on this issue anymore. I'll make a refund request, if it doesn't work out oh well. I won't be buying anything from this developer anymore. Lock this thread if you want.

So in other words you wont be playing any big mp game, cause ding ding any anti-cheat is invasive.
Edit: and even sp video games access kernel, most program does,,
