Officer ranks
I just leveled up to Lieutenant and the rank isn't visible on my helmet with the commander class for the Americans, like stated in a blog post. "The four new Officer ranks are: Lieutenant, Captain, Major and Colonel. Characters will have these ranks displayed on their epaulets, and for the Americans on the front of their helmet as well." I just seem to have the First Sergeant on commander class.

Yes we know, no officer ranks show anything cosmetic on your playermodel.

I'm still kinda glad they're not showing up. Nothing more immersion breaking than colonels, majors being lead by private.

many officers (especially airborne) turned tucked their collars in, traded their thompsons for m1 garands and hid their map case beneath their jacket, wore camoflauged netting over their insignia, (airborne didn't have insignias on the front either) etc

edit: however im fine if they add LT rank on front of helmets for non-AB model for officers

Now that i think of it, makes sense. But how many soldiers did a captain or a lieutenant command?

A lieutenant, in theory, commanded a platoon, which is usually about 3 squads of about 12 men, and a Captain commanded 3-4 platoons.

However, officers aren't bulletproof. You'd often see Lieutenants as company commanders and NCOs as platoon commanders.

This isn't only about WW2. This is military organization.

We were talking about ww2, so i assumed you only meant they had that system during that era and not also modern military, sorry that i misunderstood you.

it's still possible for LT's to be on the field, CPT's yes but not so much, anything higher is unrealistic.

PLT's many times have their own squad that they're leading on the field, not so much for CPT however it's still possible.

again this is depending on the unit to be honest, as regular army divisions wouldn't need to send in their CPT's, they would have the CPT's back with rear echelons and send in the company instead.

however for 101st 82nd it would make sense for lt's and cpts to be on the field.(depending on how many men were avaliable and what the conditions were) just on average, however airborne soldiers didn't have any insignia on the front, instead they had the unit insignia on the left/right of the helmet, and on the rear they would have either a _ or a | which signified NCO and CO
