Why you hit thompson mag about weapon?

In life it would be to make sure non of the rounds would be stuck. In-game it's to provide a longer reload for balance.

Cause bolt did not lock back on Thompson M1A1.

I thought people hit the new mag on the gun or on their helmet to hear if it was a full mag :0
