Incredible game. I purchased the game on wii-ware a long while ago, and I enjoyed it thouroughly.

As for the game itself, I would say it is much better than the previous installment. It continues where it left off, but if you are forced to play only one game, I'd say play this one. The season change mechanic merges wonderfully with the metroid-vania style exploration gameplay. It makes the game, as a whole, a wonderful and unique experience.

As for the port, it's a competant port. It works completely fine: No stuttering, visuals are still wonderful, and the mechanics/controls are slightly updated. However, it does seem to lack very many general options such as keybindings, graphical options, etc. But that is most likely due to the fact that it is a wii-ware port.

Yes I know its an metroidvania platformer: a genre often critisized for oversaturating the market. But its "wind" mechanic and wonderful exploration puzzles show a remarkable appretiation for craftsmanship that are rarely seen in games.

Achievements: Like the first game, the achievements are very reasonable. There are double the number of collectibles in this one, but, like the first, the game will autosave just before the end so you can go back and collect.

-It, like the first game, is way too short. I 100%ed it in 2.9 hrs and that's only slightly longer than the first one. For a $10 game(or $15 for the combo), I'd expect more content.
-Some mechanics felt way too underutilized
-One ability (cyclone) was very hard for me to reliably activate. I ended up erratically waving my cursor across the screen whenever I needed to use it-- which, I admit, could've probably been circumvented if I was more patient and precise. It was still frustrating, though.
-Combat is tedious and easy to avoid-- I almost wish they would've taken it out entirely and focused on the puzzles.

LostWinds 2 was, to me, a step up from the first. I appreciate the fact that Toku did not lost all of his abilities in between the games, yet more, unique powers were added. This game took longer than the first one for me. I got a little more connection with some of the characters, yet a lot of them were so quickly added and taken out of the story. Overall, it's hard to state my opinion on the series so far. While very cute and entertaining, the LostWinds games were so short that I don't feel $15 is a proper price tag for them. Whatever the case, LostWinds 2 is still a casual, bite size metroidvania that I'd recommend if on a good sale.

This one disappointed me like the first game. The level design is a little bit better, puzzles are a little more puzzling but still a short and easy game. I got quite bored during my playthrough. And last time they left it on a cliffhanger to make people buy the second game, this time? It just ends. What happened to the main story?

As of writing this review, I have not played the first game yet. However, I loved the game so much I wish to leave a positive reivew.

This was one of my favorite iOS games back in 2012 when it was Apple's free app of the week. I decided to give it a try on Steam as I remembered loving the storyline and design.

Pros
+Beautiful music and sound effects
+Unique gameplay - wind effects used to move, transferring fire from torch to torch for heat, changing seasons
+Though other reviews seem to say the story continued off the first game, I was still able to understand the plot without a problem.
+Graphics are very pretty, and the characters look adorable (Toku's animation when eating fruits is the cutest thing ever!)

Cons
-The monsters throughout the game tend to be more annoying, and prove to not be an obstacle. (Most of the time, you can just run right past them)
-It's a pretty short game, being able to be finished in as little as three to four hours. (Of course, there are still collectibles in game and steam achievements that would take more time.)

After getting done with the first part , was quite eager to get started with this one.
It was a bit harder than the first part and the map was bigger too but that's an improvement.
It's every bit amazing as the first one.Really enjoyed playing this one too, I think this one's better.

WHERE'S THE THIRD PART DEVELOPERS ?

I can see this work on the Wii, and that's where it should have stayed.

The main reason I can't recommend this game on PC is because it's really tedious to play this with mouse and keyboard, frustrating at times even.

On the plus side: lovely story (goes for both games), relaxing music, and all in all a great idea to move with the wind.

I recommend buying this sequel IF you have played the first game. I wouldn't necessarily play this as a stand-alone game.

Pros
- Stunning graphics
- A lot of attention to detail (as you can interact with the background and surroundings)
- Beautiful and relaxing music
- Tight controls (even tigher than the first game in my opinion)
- New well-implemented mechanics
- Defintely reminds you of its roots (Don't fix what ain't broken!)
- The end boss fight was actually a lot of fun!

Cons
- The story is... simple and cute, but it would not be enough to carry the game. Maybe I was just disappointed that it is not linked with the original's story.
- No character development or background descriptions as the game assumes that you know all the protagonists which appeared in the first game

The cons aren't a big deal if you know the first game - as this is a very enjoyable sequel.

LostWinds 2 starts exactly where LostWinds 1 left off. Early in the game you find your long lost mother from the former game, but she can't be free until you save the kingdom from a curse. The gameplay is the same. You run and jump like a platformer and the mouse drag creates wind to help your character reach higher places. Eventually, the wind power receives upgrades to be able to have whirlwinds, the ability to blow fire, and much much more. There is one new power that is offered in this game that was not offered in the previous game. The addition of seasons also really drastically changes the gameplay as water that once could be swam through is no longer swimmable when it's a block of ice.

The story takes a backseat to the metroidvania like gameplay as you seek out treasures, new skills, and answers to the curse you are trying to solve. There is a lot of back and forth, and this time the puzzles and monsters are a bit tougher. I enjoyed it, it's very kid friendly as far as graphics, sound, and basic gameplay, but the wind function may leave them very frustrated as it's not always intuitive and simple. Some areas may take a few trial and error moments rather than being automatically successful.

Overall, I highly recommend the series if you're all able to deal with the kid friendly atmosphere and the not too serious or difficult gameplay.

Dull. That's really just what i felt when i played this game

I rarely get to play games, so I decided to pick up this one during a steam sale. I have never played the first one and attempted to go into this sequel.

Pros: The Visuals are beautiful, and the plot is imaginative.
Once you figure out the mechanics the puzzles are a breeze to solve,
the story supposedly can be charming
Very Aprochable game

Cons: Hate to say it but, most everything else.
If you don't know the mechanics it can be hard to progress until you figure it out, as the game doesn't always do the best job of explaining them
The Combat is dull. Trying to use winds or the elements to ward away your enimies can eb frustrating when its' relatively long, tedious and you're trying not to fling your character like some kind of ragdoll
The Puzzles were very dull, witho how the puzzles hardly evolve, rather just ask you to do more of the same, the world felt boring to explore as it was less of a puzzle to solve rather then an obsecale to slowly climb over
There was also a lot of moments where i felt cheated out of progress i felt my character should have been able to make, but for some reason could not
There is a copuious amount of pausing and waiting. Even in the first area there's a fair amount of talking, then staying by fireposts like some sorta moth, then flicking around the wind trying to solve some puzzle or flick away some infestation, all of it felt like boring waiting.

All in all, thoughout the majority of it i just felt like playing a diffrent game altogeather, and if that's not the sign of something i wouldn't wish to recomend i don't know what is. I can appreciate for what the developers attempted, and by no means is it a horrible game, but with how it is, i just can't find myself to recomend this game.

Lost Winds had always been an artistically beautiful game with a fantastic premise, great soundtrack and creative story and world. The story is entirely told by text in case that wasn't your exact taste but everything about this game just feels fresh and unique, it's a game that really showcases traditional settings coupled with fantasy elements as well which makes it feel spiritual and lively. The fact that this was originally made as game exclusive to your phone and tablet is just inconceivable because it looks just as great and feels just as charming except with a much larger screen, definitely worth a play in my book but I still feel like the best experience should be felt on an iPad just because the movement feels more fluid with your fingers imitating a gush of wind but a mouse works too I guess.
