I believe that somewhere along the line if you progress a lot of the stories of the charatcers (Complete 3 chapters per character and u finish their story) you meet in the game you will come to the revelation that there is no place. It's the story itself that turns into myth/legend and you will be able to answer the man in gray with that and bring it to completion.
My journey still has a long way to go so it will be some time before I find out myself. :)
When you die in the game, you get to talk with Sting (the Dire Wolf) once again, and can make his story move. BUT I've already received the notive that the third chapter of Sting was already avaiable, but once I've died again, I was in the begining of chapter 2 once again. I've already done it twice, and now I'm not sure if this is some sort of bug or if there's another condition to meet and get to chapter 3 of Sting.
and it later became a story where the water turned to wine. However, the story grew even more and now its about a canteen that never runs out of water or something like that. Likely not what you are looking for.
actually - i hope it's not a spoiler - I've just finished a game, and can say that the Dire Wolf story not depends on stories you're telling him, only on other main character's stories progress.
I believe that the place where the water tastes like wine - according that there's such acheivement in the game - somehow linked with the number of stories you've discovered. I sure about it, because two last acheivement you receive when discover such stories almost at the and of the game, it was kinda 200th and 210th or so for me.
Now i've got 212 stories so far, and looking for the last 7. It's really boring due to broken 3D part of a game, but I still hope I'll find them :-)
No, i've collected all 219 stories and i still don't have any clues of finding this place.
UPD: strange bug: after collecting all the stories and restarting game, it shows only start screen, and goes no further.
