Language locked on chinese and russian
I've recently purchased Watch Dogs 2 on steam in China. After I downloaded the game, I discovered that there was only Russian and Chinese language available for the game. I tried changing the language in the settings menu, but there was only Chinese and Russian available for the subtitle. I also checked the properties of the game and there was still only Russian and Chinese. I really want to play this game on english. Does ANYONE know how to change the language to english???

This is not possible due to strong regional restrictions Ubisoft have placed on their games. It is also listed on the store page prior to purchase in orange letters.

Originally posted by SteamStore: Notice: Purchases made in this region will only receive the Russian and Simplified Chinese languages.

Geez why would they do that. Can I change the local files or patch the game to change the language??? Or will using a vpn to play help??? Is it really "impossible" to change the language in this game? I really want to play this game

you'd have to ask someone to upload you the whole english install.

Can you please give me the english install? Or do you know anyone I can get the file from?

@maxp0430 Even if someone gave you the English install your activation code might only be good for the version you purchased. Some countries have restrictrions on content so game makers have to make versions for those markets. I ran into the same problem a few times in countries that I have been as well. You should be able to get a refund as long as you did not play more than 2 hours.

Edit: Scratch that refund as you have played 4.4 hours already. Also as you have already played the game if someone did upload the english version to you you would not be able to activate it.

@Viperxoc Oh ok. I don't think I can get a refund. I messed around with the Chinese and Russian settings for about 4hours. So there is no other safe ways to change the language to english right?

Is the Chinese/Russian language only impacting the subtitles? I live in China now and want to confirm the audio of the Russian/Simplified Chinese version is still in English before purchasing

Not just the subtitles, interface is also non-English, yet Chinese language has English audio, but if you cannot read Russian or Chinese it will be very hard to play it, so I do not recommend it!
