Having trouble with the CD Key on uPlay?
Simple as 1, 2, 3.

You need to use the CD Key from your Steam in your Library. Click Watch Dogs 2 and on the right it should say "CD Key", copy and paste that to the activation key on uPlay. I've used this method for several games in the paste, it will very most likely work for this one.

You said "You need to use the CD Key from your Steam in your Library" which is impossible for steam owners.

It isn't, I've used it on Assassins Creed Revelations. Worked just fine

Assasins creed and Watch_Dogs 2 are two separate games.

Ever since they changed The Division method of activation to automatic activation steam owners don't get any activation code or cd key or whatever you like to call it.

They did same thing with Watch_Dogs 2 its automatic activation for steam owners.

Which means in end if YOU owned this game on steam.... you wouldn't able to find any cd key by looking in library and that is my point.

Assassing Creed Revelations is old game and uses old type of activation hence why your advice is wrong.

PS if new South Park game came out it prob is going to be also automatic activation as well.

You don't appear to own Watch Dogs 2 on Steam so you cannot add it via key. All you can do is add it as a non-steam game. If you have a key for the game; it has to be a uPlay one only. Only Ubisoft games purchased on Steam are bound to this DRM as well as uPlay as a dual layer but with Ubisoft games now; none of their games require a key when obtained on Steam and can only be activated on linked accounts through first instance sign-in authenticity.

Exectly... people who don't own this game on steam but own other older titles assume its same type of activation but in reality they aren't.

Its new method of activation on steam (which can be buggy at times) this game doesn't have cd key not if you bought it on steam.

Ugh... how many times I have to repeat this:

If you bought on steam then you won't find any cd key because this game activates without one.

If uplay is asking for one then that is a bug or error.

Possible fix:

1. Log off on uplay and close it and then restart steam.

2. Try setting steam to run as admin.

3. Verify game cache

4. Uninstall Uplay (only uplay) download uplay client from ubisoft and reinstall it.

5. Or go to your game folder which you can get to by going to your library right click on game then click properties>Local Files>Browse Local Files and then delete in folder two files:
uplay_install.manifest and uplay_install.state

SOLVED!!!!!!!

This solved the same Problem for me:

- close STEAM and UPLAY

- rename UbisoftGameLauncher64.exe in UbisoftGameLauncher64_no.exe

( UbisoftGameLauncher.exe 32bit should now be used!!! )

- Start UbisoftGameLauncher.exe as Administrator
- Start Steam.exe as Administrator

Start Watch_Dogs 2 :steamhappy:

Thanks for report!

No I have made a Guide hoping it will help millions!!

Guyyyyyyys, please help me... I've tried all the solutions detailed up here and none of them work for me... I'm desperate. The game doesn't appear in the Uplay list, I've bought it on Steam, and when I try to launch it from Steam litteraly nothing happens.

Hey Monsieur Dimanche, sorry we missed your message.

Have you been able to launch the game at all since you purchased? What is your Ubisoft account username?
