How to enjoy watchdogs at <60 fps
At first watchdogs was disapointing to me having SLI gtx1080s and still unable to pull 60fps at 4K. I finally figure out how to play WD2. I found if I can at least maintain 40FPS AND put on motion bluring, the motion bluring greatly helps remove the sense of chop/stutter. I then had to find the BEST bang for buck settings to acheive 40+ FPS.. here is what I found.
1- SHadows is the biggest FPS hit so set to ultra or very high. This gives me enough headroom to turn on more important eyecandy (hbao+)
2- Temporal is a must. game is unplayable fps-wise without it.
3- ScreenSpace Relections is a HUGE FPS hit. Turning off will give you a lot of headroom. You can turn on to veryhigh if you can maintain above 40 because it does look nice having reflections and realistic wet ground.
4-Extras I set to 25% which throws in a few extra details without taking too much an FPS hit.
5- HBAO+ takes a big FPS hit but is the ONE setting you really don't want to be without as it makes the biggest difference visually yielding realistic 3d shadowing vs. a flat 2d look.

Try the motion blur.. hated it first, but once you get used to it.. it allows you run at lower framerates without a headache. Biggest thing for me was to (finally) accept that WD2 is not a game that will run and maintain 60+ FPS and had to get used to the different look/feel of 40FPS with motion blur on. It's annoying at first, but your brain will compenssate.

Well, yes and no.. I play on a 65" 4K samsung TV.. I play both GTA5 and WD2. Gr apically WD2 IMO blows GTA5 out of the water.. it's not even a contest. BUT this is really only apparent at 4K. resolution. At 4K, the newer shading technology and graphical features and 4K textures really shine through and put WD2 way beyond GTAV. But below 4K, the difference gap narrows.
Because WD2 looks so much better then GTAV at 4K, It actually looks to me that WD2 (with Temporal filtering) has a big lead over GTAV performance wise for a SINGLE GPU. But for SLI, GTAV has much better optimization.
One thing is for sure, if it wasn't for Temporal Filtering "trick", WD2 would be utterly unplayable.

Trust me, it's a bad port. I have a i7 4790k, 16 gb RAM, and a GTX1080 SC 8GB, and on Ultra settings I can't maintain 60 FPS at 1080p. I'll try your settings to see if they work for me.

I wish you guys could witness WD2 on a 4K big screen TV running the 4K textures.. you really would be amazed.

there is no such thing as "best bang for buck on GTX 1080 SLI"

It is, except it's just so graphically intensive that not the modern gfx card can run it at 4k, sorry

Ironically, I found at 1080P, WD2 looks worse then GTAV. But at 4K on a big screen, WD2 looks much MUCH better then GTAV. To my eyes, at 1080P resolution is too low for WD2 and all the extra graphics just looks like a cluttered hot mess.

So I'm not the only one running a GTX 1080/i7 6700k BOTH overclocked to hell and back and STILL averaging 45 fps near hackerspace?

Temporal filtering is not available when SLI is enabled.

Thank you. While you are correcting my grammar, can you scratch my balls too? I got an itch!

Played it with an amd fx 8350, 16gb ram, and an r9 290. Ran fine. Swapped the r9 290 with a gtx 1070. Still ran fine.

Looks like a good port to me.

you swapped a gpu in a game where you are completely cpu limited? 25-40 fps is not something many would call fine, but if it was good for you, who can argue with that.

I agree it's a good port though, but I have more than 25-40 fps though, if I had that, i would not be happy.
