Im having the same problem, i have an AMD Athlon x4 860k, gtx 980, and 8 gigs of ram running windows 10. I have tried running the game in windowed mode by pressing ALT and ENTER, disabling anti cheat, and running windows 7 combatiblity mode. All my drivers are up to date.

Generally, black screens on launch may indicate that you do not have four cores on your CPU. If you feel you're over the specifications listed here[support.ubi.com], then please do send your DxDiag and Msinfo reports to the support teams on https://support.ubi.com/

After 10 hours of trying things, i did something that allowed the sound to come, nd then i removed my graphics card overclock to get the video. its working now!

I got a black screen too after the last Watch Dogs 2 update on windows 7 x64. EasyAntiCheat loads 100%. Uplaycore, upc and game launcher estasblish connections. WatchDogs2 is not connecting though allowed through fiewall and it creates a bunch of ntdll.dll user threads which are all stuck waiting.

It looks like it is setting the wrong display settings or refresh rate. Window and Fullscreen are at 1920x1080 but refresh is left at 0. Deleting the WatchDogs 2 folder in My Games does nothing to fix the wrong display settings. Same issue with multiple clean Nvidia display drivers that worked fine before the update.

Another complete removal and install of Watch Dogs 2 should fix the game, as a file verification will do nothing to fix this issue.

All i did was check the integrity of the game files, turned on 4 cores in my bios which was disabled for some reason, i then disabled my gpu, and that seemed to solve the black screen glitch. I then reenabled my gpu and removed my msi afterburner overclock, setting everything back. i then launched the game in windowed mode and it worked, perfect frames and everything. i was able to go fullscreen when i tried. hope this helps in some way!

Jesus man, you have an i3, this game will eat that cpu alive!
You will never be able to play this game with that CPU!
PS: who that hell would use a gtx 1080 with an i3???
The botleneck is enormous, thats why you cant play it!

You need to have four cores in order to play which is why you're experiencing a black screen. If you feel you're over the specifications listed here, then please do send your DxDiag and Msinfo reports to the support teams on https://support.ubi.com/

I thought I was bottlenecking my system bad with an i5 2500/GTX 1070/16GB RAM, but your system would really bottleneck and could have issues with newer AAA titles. I understand you buying a better GPU to get better performance without the cost of a new system, that's what I did with the GTX 1070.

If your motherboard will take a 4 core CPU then it's time to upgrade it. If not it might be time to finally start thinking about a new system but at least you don't need to waste any money on a new GPU, or of course just get a new MB and CPU. Only other thing you can do is upgrade your memory but really don't think that will matter with your current CPU unless you play CPU light games, or older games.
