Watch Dogs 2 Crash
I logged in for the first time to play WD2 in a few months. It ran fine before on the same PC. Steam client, Nvidia drivers, WD2, optimized settings are fully up to date but it keeps crashing. The game will run for a few minutes and then crash out to the desktop without warning or error message. This was fine before and now it is unplayable. Anyone else experiencing this?

MSI GE62VR running WIN10 Pro

Hello,

If you are experiencing crashes after the latest patch, please try the following steps in this FAQ.

Thanks

Removing AVG and reverting to Windows Defender seems to have solved the crash issues. I also noticed that when the laptop is connected to an external display, I need to set both displays to "mirror" to keep it from crashing.

Nope, looks like I spoke too soon. The game runs for about 10 minutes, freezes, and then crashes to the desktop without any report.

Nvidia Version: 378.92 Release date: 3/20/2017

MSI GT72VR, GTX1070m (win7)
Crash as same point every time,
When I set 60fps limit, 70% chance crash,
finally I set 30fps limit, 30% chance crash, so I can play more than One hour before crash.

(update)
since my display refresh rate is 40/75fps, the most stable setting for me is manual set refresh rate 40, v-sync normal, frame limit 40fps (quality ultra).

I'm sorry, you have to contact support ASAP. There's nothing that we can do to stop Watch Dogs 2 from crashing, because it's a high graphic game. High Graphic Games requires Intel Core i5 (Intel Core i7 or later recommended) 8GB RAM (16GB RAM recommended).

Start a new game. Does the first mission run without crashes? If it didn't crash, try this fix:

So I've had this issue myself and I'm still experimenting on getting the game running without crashes but this has worked for me.

Refer to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeIOBQrUZ0Q You have to change the "OutputScalingFactor" to 8

Play the game for 30 minutes. Did it crash? Now if you want better graphics you can change the 8 to 4 from "OutputScalingFactor" :cozyrealmroyale:

Just wanted to confirm that @PizzaPie's solution worked for me too. I set the OutputScalingFactor to 2. The game looks bad but runs great.

EDIT: I set OutputScalingFactory to 1.1 and it appears to be working without CTD. Visual quality is much better and FPS is still higher.
