Cross-Platform Multiplayer?

Been on the fence about buying this, but admittedly haven't been paying attention to a lot of the details. Does this mean that this will go the route of Rocket League, Shadowrun, and others so that you can play with your friends on consoles? Or is it part of Microsofts cross-play initiative? Anyone know? Can't seem to find much on Google.

It is cross platform between PC and MAC. You will not be able to play with Console players on the PC, they are seperated.

I have read (for ARK survival) that windows 10 could comunicate with X-Box, but I think it is just a concept they are considering not implemented (yet).

Ah, alright. That's kind of an annoying distinction, but that makes sense. Thanks for the answer. As for Ark (and a few other games) cross-compatability possibility is there, it's mostly just up to the developers individually on whether or not they want to dedicate the resources to creating and maintaing that environment. Microsoft is also very strict about source control and pushing updates on the Xbox environment.

sorry, what I meant was I was trying to find out the ARK comatability for me and my son to play ARK together. I was assuming that the same would be for other games as well. I think Microsoft might be working on it, but I am no expert. lol
