Fun: It is a nice change when you have the time, but it is all manual and there's a lot of other things that need to be done.
Realistic: Bales are stored in haylofts to keep them out of the weather, but the game layloft doesn't store bales. So you have a choice between which realism you want to play.
Fyi you can drop grass into the silage bin and ferment it directly into silage - no need to tedder it into hay first.
