Hay Bales-Round vs Two Baler Machines
When I bought my first Bale machine it spit out Round Bales of Hay; I was like "Wheres my flat square things"

So after a while i learned how to finally harvest wheat and turn into straw (couldnt believe i was so stupid lol). Today I wanted to learn which gives me more money; round hay or square hay. But looking at the Store; both Baler Machines look the same (function)

Big Baler 1290 functions as the Roll Belt 150?

I'm gonna drive my existing Roll Belt and Trade it for the Bigger version and hopefully a response will happen by the driving time haha.

So clearly I'm asking

1-Does Square Bales give more money than Round Bales? (I was gonna do 4 and 4 to see)
2-Which Machine makes Square/Rectangle Bales of Hay?

Thanks

on easy last night i sold some square bales. i got 328 each bale of straw, idk about hay yet as im just starting a filed for hay. i used the new holland big baler and it gives you square bales that can be picked up with the accustack machine as well that will carry 16 bales at a time and will give you nice tall stacks for storage. hope that helps.

lol yeah just did my research too.

RollBelt 150 is cheaper version. Produces Round Bales; you have to manually dump the bale once 100%; meanwhile the Auto Grabber for Round Bale allows for a quantity of 8

Big Baler 1290 is more expensive version; produces square bales, auto ejects when complete. And the Auto Grabber for this version (Square) holds (like you said 16)

Both Square and Round gave me $328 each. So value of Straw is based off market and or just a flat price either way.

So "if you have the money" buy the bigger baler; and buy a bigger auto grabber!!

I think I'll go sell my smaller Round Grabber now :)

***EDIT; the bigger version though works slower; the mph of item that is. You can go a bit faster on the smaller priced item. I've seen as low as 7mph when using the Bigger Version Producer***

I think the round bales are to be used with the bale wrapper to make silage on the spot, instead of in a silage pit. they can be useful in making mixed rations for animals.
*edit; the speed might have more to do with which tractor you are using, a lower HP one will not pull it as fast while it is working.

If you do round grass bales and wrap them, you can sell them at the Bio plant for over 400 a bale. Slightly more work and more time consuming, but more money. The wrapper is over 30,000 though.

dude, sell wrapped grass bales at your home barn, on normal mode thats 1400 per bale

The round bales and square bales are the same volume. Hence the same price.

Round bales of grass or hay can be wrapped into silage to be sold or used for animal feed. The cheaper hay baler makes these. The round bale stacker stacks two columns of five, iirc

Square bales are better for hay for animals and straw, since they stack'n'pack better than round ones. The more expensive baler makes these. The Square baler also has an added advantage in being able to 'bale on the run', unlike the round baler. The square bale stacker stacks two columns of six or seven, iirc.

If you're just selling off straw, you only really need a forage wagon to pick it off the ground.
