No bigger plows?
The biggest is only 6.2m, and I don't seem to find a legit plow mod that is bigger than that. Why are plows so small unlike other equipment?

They operate 'deeper' than a simple cultivator or some such.

In game terms, they are a waste of time and money.

Plowing only accounts for 5% of a fields' maximum yield (leaving you with 190% of 200%), and costs you more than a fortune in equipment cost, maintenance, and wages.

You wind up needing something like a $200,000+ tractor to pull even a 4m wide plow. Ultimately, not cost effective.

Who needs a plow with a 1.9m depth?

Supposed to be 10% I thought.

Still not worth it unless you're a minmaxer, I agree.

think he means 10% of 200% value which is 5% of total output.
i agree totally not worth it

Understood, guess I will skip plowing from now on.

Huh? It's 10% of maximum yield. "200%" is not even valid. 200% of what?

If it's 200t of maximum yield, then he loses 20t by not plowing (180t yield). If it's 100t potential yield he loses 10t and so on. ie: 10% of *whatever* the yield is.
Pagan Oct 30, 2016 @ 4:08am
if the field produces 100t then when fert 3 times it produces 190t and if plowed it produces 200t. At least thats how i thinkk it works.
So of the potential 200t you can get out of the field you loose 10t by not plowing or 5% of the potential

The highest you can go is 100%. Where are you getting the extra 90-100% from?

Yeah. No. Lets ignor wages beacuse using helpers is never cheap. The current plough I own ( Cayron 600) has paid its self off in terms of the cost to buy it and is the cheapest bit of field equipment that is constantly in use in terms of maintainace. Even if I used a bigger plough it would still be the cheapest bit of equipment to run

Not strictly true as my 700 vario can pull a 4.9m and that costs less than 200,000. Min power requirement levels are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Look If you think ploughing is a compleat waste of time and money thats fine and your opinion, but dont go around and make it out to be some sort of gospel truth

Mate. 10% of 200t is 20t.

Each fert is 30% (if set on 3x) making 30% x 3 = 90%.

And 90% of 200 is 180t.

180+20 = 200 :steamhappy:
Pagan Oct 30, 2016 @ 4:15am
the base isnt 200t its 100. your doing maths counting down from a potential 200 not up from the base 100......but then i might be making no sense ive been awake for 18 hours

Cayron 600? Is that a mod or something? I can't find it in game. Would love to try out new plows and see if it's better than in game ones...

Watching the video I got to wondering why you would need to plow 1.9 meters deep. The hard pan that developes after a few years of traffic doesn't go much below a meter. A sub-soiler would be more econical. We used to bore holes with a electric drill and a home made auger bit, drop a 1/4 stick of dynamite down it, stomp the top down, run about a hundred feet. BOOM, no more trouble spot to hold water.
To help answer Lymark's question, the reason why you need such a beefy tractor to pull such a small plow is because the spades dig into the ground to loosen/airate it, making it more furtile. Being the spades are being pulled while in the ground (and not on it), that causes alot of drag/friction that the tractor has to overcome.

Its like comparing you walking on the ground and walking in a swimming pool thats filled with water chest high. Which is easer to do?
