Custom Skid Steer Controls
Since most real skid steers have twin joystick controls, it would be logical that this would be adapted in the game with use of a gamepad. That isn't the case though.

Left stick would be your movement, right stick would control the loader. Press RB and use the right stick to move the camera.

Anyone know if this is possible to implement? I think it would make the skid loader a lot more intuitive to operate, and a lot closer to the real thing.

Control at your fingertips

" A typical skid-steer joystick is hydraulically controlled, and features drive/steering functions in the left handle, while the right handle controls loader arm functions, such as raising and lowering a bucket or tilting it forward or rearward.

"Some manufacturers offer variations of controls, such as Bobcat's Advanced Control System (ACS) and Selectable Joystick Control (SJC) system. ACS gives operators the ability to switch between using hand actuators or foot pedals to activate the hydraulics. SJC features an electric joystick and provides the ability to change between ISO and H patterns by simply pressing a switch in the cab. "These systems allow an operator to operate a machine in their most learned method," says Mike Fitzgerald, product representative, Bobcat."

Back when I was doing construction, the excavator I operated used foot pedals to control the tracks. The track loader I operated had 3 speeds forward and 3 reverse and 3 brakes, one for the left track, one for the right track and the middle one for both. Streering clutches were also operated by the brake pedals. Dozers typically had hand clutches and foot brakes, one for each track.
I agree, this is the most glaring deficiency in the whole franchise. Love Farming Simulator, but when they have separate ISO controls for tracked vehicles and racing controls for tractors, the game will be complete.
Theoretically, it would be a simple matter of having "default controls" for tractors where standard race wheel control would work as it does now. For skid steers and other track vehicles have a "skid steer" control setup. By having ALL skid steer controls separately configured would allow for maximum versatility. As an example, I used the front loader controls as 2 lever controls, both moving in the vertical direction, rather than single lever controls. Some loader tractors used single lever, others used double lever controls for the loader function. Example John Deere used a single lever, but, Caterpillar used double lever. If the loader bucket could be opened or side dumped, Caterpillar would have triple lever controls. Left to right: 1. Arms up/down 2. Bucket tilt 3. Bucket open/side dump. Each control moving forwards/backwards when looking from above. Track type loaders that had a ripper was control by a separate valve with a long arm that was operated by rotating the arm when seen from above.
Agreed, although I think that's somewhat of a simplistic view. Most manufacturers offer multiple control patterns, but they are usually H pattern (two sticks for drive) or ISO, (pilot or electronic joysticks one for drive, one for loader controls. Don't get me into pedals vs those weird pseudo-joysticks for H-pattern...
Well, I was just giving some real world examples.
