Is it a bad thing to fit a bigger header to a smaller harvesters?
I thought the headers were fixed to certain harvesters(the compatibility icon), but then I found out that I could fit a 13.7m header into a $200k harvester.

I wonder why would one wanna buy an expensive harvester when you could fit the biggest header to one of those cheaper harvesters? Besides I would be harvesting so fast that my internal load would be filled fast( will be using a tipper anyways), I don't see any downside of it?

Small harvesters don't have enough hp/kW to push bigger headers uphill. They either go really slow or can't go uphill at all. Not sure about default harvester in this game but it sure was a problem in 15 with Comia.

Also with larger headers you would have to stop the harvester every time you want to unload it because of lenght of pipe.

Ahh right, I didn't think about that. But how about fitting a 6m(header) harvester with a 9m header, do you think it would still affect a lot too? Or should I better off play it safe?

I tried a bigger header on the small mf combine, it fitted, started, but couldn't harvest the wheat, I have not tested this with other combines or headers so I'm not 100% sure... It might work, but it did not work that time... Btw I noticed the header was too heavy, the combine was almost doing a front wheelie ;)

That's MF 7347 with largest header, correct header for this harvester on left
That's most likely the biggest issue with using it. Unless you're really good at backing up a trailer you have to stop the harvester to unload.
My experience is that it can work, but why would you? You CAN build a house without a venthood over your stove (only required by code for a commercial kitchen, not required for residential kitchen) but why would you?

1. A small combine might have a hard time handling a large header (this is a real world issue as well). In FS15, it could handle it ok, but, in FS17 I found it just doesn't work.

2. The unloading pipe is short, so you have to stop and backup to the tipper. You also will not be able to use tippers in tandem for this reason.

3. The storage container on the small combine is small, so you have to stop much more often to unload.

4. You are limited in the size of tipper you can unload to. You will have to use a small tipper, so you will have to stop more often to empty your tipper. If you are close to your storage that will not be a problem, but as you get fields farther away, it will become a problem. You will not be able to get the unloading pipe over a large tipper.

Hopefully, some mod large tippers would able to do so.

We do this on my dedicated server all the time...

there are tricks, for example you can pull a tipper with a harvestor as a counter weight...

A skilled driver can come in at an angle driving a straight line from behind the harvestor and get under the pipe fairly easily just takes a little time to get use to it....

But this can be a good way to go if money is tight....As it can often be in multiplayer if you started from hard...

Even that harvester in my picture?

Probably if you can drift a trailer under it in straight line.

Without stopping the harvester?

No harvestor would need to stop for a few seconds,,, I could do a drive buy with it running but I wouldnt get much out of the pipe lol.....

Been using the acros 595 plus with a superflex 45ft. the handeling is a bit wonky and i can only empty it when it is standing still, however it does work.
