AI Fails At Using Plows
As the title says, the AI still can' handle plows, especially not the larger ones like the 12m plow. Whever i give a helper the task to plow one of my fields, he's doing a sloppy job and leaves big gapes of unplowed soil in the field. Smaller plows work ok(ish) but forget about the large ones, the AI will screw it up no matter what. I thought the AI was improved? It doesn`t seem like that to me.

Anybody else having problems with that too?

Yup, Ai sucks at plowing. They seem to use the rear of the plow as their marker instead of the front, leaving big gaps, so I have to do the headlands myself.

Can't wait for Courseplay.

Glad to know i'm not the only one, who's annoyed by the AI's inability to correctly handle plows.

Yeah this sucks, Im almost ready to turn plowing off in the options because of it. Holds up the whole damn operation

You only lose 10%. You make up for it by simply not wasting time or wages on it. Ever.

If they "filled the gaps" half the plow would be overrun. It's how plows work for real and why you do headlands... for real.

(Just so you understand, the plow is "rolled" or turned so it doesn't drag all the dirt across the field in one direction. It's the roll that leaves the V shape, not the "AI". If you plowed all the way down to the plow tail - to get rid of the V - your field would get longer and longer - that's why you stop at the head.)

in game terms, the ploughing would stop at the end of the field, since plows don't automatically extend a field by default in FS17. The tractor would simply move forward an extra meter or two to 'square off' before turning around for the next pass.

Which completely defeats the purpose of trying to "simulate" farming or even bothering to attempt vehicle accuracy.

Point is, it's not the AI, it's how plows work. Notwithstanding, plowing is optional, doing headlands is optional and not bothering with the V's is optional. (at best I calculate about ~1% loss, even less on large fields),

I'm sure somebody will mod a "square" plow eventually. :steamhappy:

If you want it realistic, then the AI should do the headlands. What you're saying is bullcrap.

I can't handle the big plows driving myself - so hard to turn and get aligned. I use the 4m subsoiler from the Kuhn DLC to plow fields, and a smaller stock 3m plow if I want to plow up the grass borders to extend or join up fields. AI workers do OK with the subsoiler except right in the corners of the field on the headland passes.
