"Object too heavy" missed oppertunity.
I gotta say i really like that we can now pick stuff up with our hands but it seems like the only things that aren't too heavy are the worthless fluff items that are found in the world. I think this is a really missed oppertunity. Especially now that we have these awesome pickup trucks that we can put bags of feed or seeds in the back of , it really doesnt make any sense that we would also require a frontloater with a fork on it just to put stuff in and out of our pickup truck. I think it would have been great if we could manually load light(er) stuff like the seed bags , and maybe hay bales onto the pickup truck and trailers.

When i went to the store to pick up more seeds for the first time i was really impressed. I felt super immersed while i drove down there expecting to pick up a bag , and then maybe make a 2nd trip for a 2nd bag. Then i found out you still need a frontloader :/

Thoughts?

Just like real life, there are things that are too heavy for a normal (wo)man to pick up such as loaded pallets and such. But the good thing about being able to pick up things is being able to pick up those little log offcuts that you sometimes get from forestry. I think the largest log you can pick up is about 1 metre in length, though I have not tried it yet.

Yes ofcoarse i'm not expecting my character to have superhuman strenght, but the bales (esp. the round ones) and bags should be possible imo. Maybe the game can give you the strenght of 2 people and pretend someone is helping you or , alternatively just add smaller bags to the store that can be picked up by hand. I'm not too familiar with the farm sim mod world but maybe this is something that can be done by a modder .. i wonder.

I've not done much logging (not any) in FS17, and only did a very little amount of it in FS15 but i imagine that this feature makes logging much more enjoayble , that's true.

I've seen those large bales up close and personal and I can tell you, they are quite heavy. Not to mention those round bales can be as big as a man. And yes, I have worked on a farm.

Ok. Scratch that then. I guess baling is a core part of the farm work so i don't mind needing equipment for it but like i said earyer i would really like the ability to pick up some seeds or fertilizer from the store without needing a forklift.

Those round hay bales weigh around 1 ton on average...

Individual bags of seed or fertilizer would be good though. Except that a single bag won't go far on a farm... It's easier to pick up a pallet and load it into the back of the truck than it is to pick up and load 50-100 bags individually...

Yes i imagine it is , my issue isn't so much about the difficulty but more about the hassle of bringing a fork loader with you to the store every time (wich defeats the purpose of the pickup truck entirely since you can only carry 1 anyway). Ofcoarse later in the game when you have an actual trailer i don't mind bringing a forklift loader to bring a whole bunch of them at once , i was more talking about the early game when that's not an option.

Yeah, the store should have a pallet stacker to load the pallets onto the truck with when you purchase there. In real life I don't have to take a lift with me when I pick up a pallet somewhere.. They load it for me.

Yes that would be just as good.

I don't know about you but 100, 150 kg is still heavy. i pick up that kind of weights daily and you really need to do that with atleast 2 persons. Even if you are kinda strong and do it alone: How long would you like to be able to work?, do sports, and do everything else what u like doing in life? Becaus your spine will be crushed in a few years.

Yeah that's why i said in an earlyer comment maybe the game can pretend there's 2 people working there (or maybe make it a MP feature but that would be asking a lot). Either way i realize picking up a bale by hand was stretching it and i'm fine with that like i said earlyer.

I get what the OP is talking about and i think he has a point... with this new ablity it could have been a good new gameplay feature, not saying you should be able to pick up a pallet of fert but maybe give us a load of bagswe CAN pick up and load the pickup truck with (or any other carrying vehicle/trailer) and then transport it back to the farm... maybe have a fert bin that counts how many bags you throw in or somthing..

i think a lot more could of been done with it.. gonna be a fun feature to mod with tho.. gonna have to look into that..

Actually you can load 2 pallets onto the pickup truck.

I saw a dude on youtube try that and his truck started shaking like crazy and bugging out so i wasn't sure if you're supposed to do that or not :/
