I found the best way to fertilize without much bother is the weeder/sower with oilseed radish, which you can then cultivate pretty fast to get a field with level 2 fertilization before even planting.
If you have a sower that fertilizes you are then pretty much sorted (level 3 fertilization right away).
use the weeder after sowing so no grouth gives stage 1 fert
then use again after it has popped to stage 1 grouth
then use a 3rd time for stage 2 groth thus giving you the max fert no need for a furterliser at all
Good method....unless you play with crop destruction mod.
ALOT are playing with that mod...this is why you see most doing 3 stage fert trying to get it all in prior to any growth.
care wheels = no destructions of crops ;)
weeders remove weeds that steal the nutrition from the soil from the fertilizers, so by weeding, your fertalizer goes to the correct plants and they will grow better, it doesnt actualy fertilize the soil it self.
But the weeder should only be used before the crops sprout, becuase if used when the crops are sproute above ground level, then they would just get chopped up just like weeds and that would ruin your harvest yeild.
if you really want to change it, you could try to find if someone made a mod or try to find someone to make a mod for you, but the easest solution is just to use the weeder your own way, noone is forceing you to use it all the time.
