Fix for slow helpers? [SOLVED]
I use helpers a lot like Ill have one to drive a combine, another sowing the field while I do various tasks myself.

But how do I make the helpers do things faster? Like if I use a tractor to spray a field, itll do up to 19 kph, but with an AI helper at the wheel, it wont go beyond 9 kph?!?

I havent really been able to locate any mods that address this issue, except for CP which afaik isnt out for FS17 yet.

But those 9 kph AI helper speed limits must be set somewhere, like in a scriptfile, does anyone know which one?

Cheers :-)

I believe whatever you have cruise control set to on different vehicles will limit the workers speed, that could be the issue.

Oh boy is that really it? Dang....didnt suspect that at all. I have two tractors and both are set at 10 kph for when i use them to drive along side of the conbine....ill give it a shot and see if changing the cruise speed will solve the issue.

Thx :-)

The reason is cruise control speed. I even forget to increase it when I go to sell things. I have full 47k tipper, I see uphill -> try to get as much speed as possible. When I hit that uphill my speed is 50+ km/h -> hit cruise control button and my speed drops to 10 km/h.

Yep. The cruise control now is valid for helpers too. I found that accidentally, when helper was going 10 kph everywhere with tractor I used to drive along harvester. That 10 kph seemed suspicious.

Lol. Jut got caught same thing... again.

Seeder way behind, couldn't figure why my sequence was all out. Yep, same tractor I used for offloading harvesters... toddling along at 10kph.
Well that clears it up then, thx a bunch for the feedback guys. :-)

You can change the AI Helper speed in the relveant XML files. You are looking for this value speedLimit value= So what ever value you see you can change it. But i wouldnt put it up too high. Using the tractor with the sprayer you will need to find the XML file for the sprayer and you can change speedLimit value=

Thx for the input andoblock. I guess now that it seems to be a question of just setting the cruise speed, im not gonna need it.

I seem to recall that CP in FS15 eliminated the speed limit for equipment while operating, so that normally using a sprayer and going too fast, it wouldnt do the job properly, with CP that was eliminated.

But i like that theres a limit on how fast you can actually go while using the equipment and 9kph for a small combine is, afaik, pretty quick compared to rl?

I remember this farmer living across my street, he has a John Deere 1150 combine harvester and I was helping driving the tractor to unload while he was harvesting and we did 2.8 kph.

It actually depends on many factors. Comb height, moisture content and yield among some things. If the head is "tight" and /or"damp" you need slower speeds to allow the seperator to do it's job properly. If you can shake out the grain on dry mature grains you can run faster.

Dirty/thick crops also cause header/blower blockages and bearing overheat so there's lots of things to watch for when you crank the speeds up.
Well I think it was wheat and they talked about the moisture level being very low.
But as I understood, they never really had that combine doing more than 3-3.5 kph while harvesting. :-)

Yeah, i remember my summers in fields. Gathering hay for grandparents cows for winter, watching harvesters in fields... we were teens that time. Biggest wish was to be in drivers cabin while it is working field. But that wish was never fulfilled hehe. And yes, they drove through field at walking speed.

Some childhood you had there. :-)

I grew up in a city near the capitol, but we had family out her in the country and so we moved here when I was 14.

I dont know that much abpout farming, what I know is mainly because two of the guys I work with are both farmers and so I ask them stuff now and then. :-D
